Background Dacrocystorhinostomy (DCR) is an operation used to treat nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Essentially there are two approaches: external and endoscopic. Several modalities in endoscopic DCR; all aiming improve success rate, reduce complications, shorten operative time. Radioactive iodine 131 ((131)I) therapy has long been used in the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC). While salivary and lacrimal glandular complications secondary to (131)I are well documented, there is little literature addressing nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO). We aimed evaluate frequency therapy-acquired NLDO, its correlation doses, surgical outcome this rare side effect. From 2000-2012, a retrospective review 864 among 1,192 patients with confirmed DTC who were...

Background Assessing surgical competency in otolaryngology is challenging, and residency programs are now responsible for ensuring the of their graduates. Therefore, more objective assessment tools being incorporated into evaluation process. Objective structured technical skills (OSATSs) have been developed multiple procedures. These include tonsillectomy, endoscopic sinus surgery, thyroidectomy, mastoidectomy, direct laryngoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy. The purpose this study was to develop...

Here in we aimed to evaluate the clinico-pathological features treatment outcomes SDC Saudi population.Among 38 patients with malignancies, who were treated two major tertiary care referral cancer centers between December 2007 2014, seven cases (18.4 %) found have SDC, which investigated...

Fibrous dysplasia (FD) and aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) are uncommon benign intraosseous lesions. Simultaneous occurrence of both lesions is extremely rare. We present an example concomitant FD ABC in a 7 year-old with left eye blindness discharge one month duration. Physical examination revealed proptotic bulging the hard palate. CT MRI consistent that involved sphenoid ethmoidal bones bilaterally. Incomplete combined endonasalcranial resection was performed. The patient presented five months...

Skull base metastasis from differentiated thyroid carcinoma, including papillary and follicular is a rare manifestation. Herein, we present three cases of skull carcinoma. The mean age the patients was 68.6 (65-74) years, interval between initial diagnosis 56.3 (28-89) months. Cranial nerve palsies were seen in all patients. Intensity modulated radiation therapy to deliver 6,000-6,600 cGy given patients, addition partial resection one patient. At time last follow-up, metastases well controlled.
