Abstract For lead‐cooled fast reactors and accelerator‐driven subcritical systems, the surface corrosion behavior of candidate structural materials in lead–bismuth eutectic (LBE) is a key issue, which determines whether material applicable. The two typical MAX phases, Ti 3 SiC 2 AlC , were immersed static LBE with saturated oxygen concentration at 500°C for up to 3000 h. behaviors analyzed by scanning electron microscope, energy‐dispersive X‐ray, X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectra....

In this paper, the effects of Bi2O3 doping on mechanical properties PbO ceramic pellets were studied. Different ratios Bi2O3/PbO (i.e., xBi2O3-(1-x) PbO, where x is 0, 1, 3, 5, or 7 wt.%) fabricated and sintered at 570, 620, 670 °C. Mechanical including density, hardness, flexural strength, sintering studied for each aforementioned compositions. Phase composition, microstructure, worn surfaces composites characterized by scanning electron microscopy X-ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD analysis...

Mechanical properties of the electron beam weld zone, which are different from base metal, Hastelloy C-276 were studied by small punch test (SPT) technology. Load–displacement curves and material obtained using miniaturized plate-type specimens (3mm diameter×(0.15-0.4) mm thick) metal respectively. The result shows that maximum load is larger than under same thickness, meaning higher strength weld. Furthermore, finite element method analysis was performed to investigate effects specimen...

The structure material corrosion in liquid lead or lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) is a tremendous limitation of the development cooled fast reactors and accelerator driven sub-critical system (ADS). Keeping certain oxygen concentration can prevent steel pipe from by LBE. Through dissolution precipitation PbO ceramic has been found to control successfully. This paper presents research on new technology processing oxide ceramic. raw material, pure powder deionized water, without any other...

Abstract Alumina-forming Austenitic (AFA) steel is one of the candidate corrosion-resistant structural materials for lead-cooled fast reactors, exhibiting excellent high-temperature corrosion resistance. However, its mechanisms in lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) environment at design operating temperature reactors have not been fully elucidated. In this study, AFA was immersed static LBE with saturated oxygen 500 °C 3000 hours. The behavior samples obtained by analyzing morphology cross section...
