Abstract Subsurface storage of is an important means to mitigate climate change, and the North Sea hosts considerable potential resources. To investigate fate over decades in vast reservoirs, numerical simulation based on realistic models essential. Faults other complex geological structures introduce modeling challenges as their effects operations are subject high uncertainty. We present a computational framework for forward propagation uncertainty, including stochastic upscaling copula...

AbstractUrine from a patient with cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) was extracted Sep-Pak C18 cartridge and the extract analysed by fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. The spectra indicated presence of glucuronidated bile alcohols four to seven hydroxyl groups. method is simple rapid suggested as an aid in diagnosis CTX possible application prenatal diagnosis.Key Words: alcoholsglucuronidesurine

Propagation losses occur in medium voltage power cables as pulses propagate through them. Since have many components, these can make different contributions to the propagation losses. The relative of conductors, insulation and semi-conducting screens characteristics cable are analyzed. studied by a developed "approximate" model providing analytical expressions that quantify parts conductor dielectric system. is compared with an "exact" tested on four

ABSTRACT Sedimentable cells from human adipose tissue of different origins were cultured under conditions when cell multiplication was prevented but lipid filling optimized (suspension culture). In this way an estimation obtained the number in vivo determined precursor (preadipocytes) which not filled with lipid. Under these no adult, non‐obese subjects developed to adipocytes. Cells developing adipocytes constituted less than 0.02% and 1% tissues obese adults children, respectively. It...

Abstract The prognosis during 1 year of follow‐up in 715 patients admitted to one single hospital due suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with a history unstable angina pectoris immediately preceding hospitalization is described. AMI developed 192 (27%) the first three days and 255 (38%) year. mortality was 7% (50 patients) 19% (130 patients). Of nonsurvivors, 54% died AMI, 28% congestive heart failure, 20% cardiogenic shock. Based on simple clinical parameters admission emergency...

Science and engineering problems subject to uncertainty are frequently both computationally expensive feature nonsmooth parameter dependence, making standard Monte Carlo too slow, excluding efficient use of accelerated quantification methods relying on strict smoothness assumptions. To remedy these challenges, we propose an adaptive stratification method suitable for with significantly reduced variance compared sampling. The is iteratively refined samples added sequentially satisfy...
