A novel approach of accurately reconstructing storage ring's linear optics from turn-by-turn (TbT) data containing measurement error is introduced. This adopts a Bayesian inference based on the Markov Chain Monte-Carlo (MCMC) algorithm, which widely used in data-driven discoveries. By assuming preset accelerator model with unknown parameters, process yields their posterior distribution. demonstrated by inferring Twiss parameters and uncertainties using set measured at National Synchrotron...
In preparation for PIP-II, there has been interest in running the Fermilab Booster at a higher current more indicative of PIP-II era operation. In July 2023, an experiment was performed to study collective instabilities over transition crossing Booster.Over crossing, synchrotron tune becomes small and synchro-betatron become possible.During experiment, intensity threshold observed, above which dipole instability with losses concentrated tail bunch. These are consistent Convective Instability.
Abstract An overview is given of the methods and preliminary results from dedicated beam studies on three topics conducted over five days in July 2023. In first study, Fermilab Booster magnets were held constant at magnetic fields corresponding to injection energy. The loss emittance growth observed under varying intensity, tunes, sextupole resonances. conditions also simulated with MADX-SC code [1]. second measurements vertical half-integer resonance correction are for high-intensity beams...
