To examine the tectonic history of Taiwan segment eastern margin South China, six rock samples from Tailuko belt, metamorphic basement Taiwan, were selected for zircon SHRIMP dating. The aim was to identify evidence shedding light on timing change passive active tectonics this part continental since China separated supercontinent Rodinia. results lead two age groups, 190–200 and 88–90 Ma. These augmented by previously published data, suggest that they could have resulted Mesozoic...

Abstract Although oriented rutile needles in garnet have been reported from several ultrahigh‐pressure (UHP) rocks and considered to be important UHP indicators, their crystallographic features including growth habit lattice correspondences with host never properly characterized. This paper presents a detailed analytical electron microscopic (AEM) study on evenly distributed of two eclogitic Sulu. Some one diamondiferous quartzofeldspathic rock the Saxonian Erzgebirge, high‐pressure (HP)...

Various tectonic models have been proposed to account for the widely distributed igneous activities in southeastern part of South China Block (SCB) during Triassic–Jurassic period. One major contending debates is on timing initiation palaeo-Pacific plate subduction under SCB, due lack unequivocal evidence arc magmatism period this region. The 191 ± 10 Ma (N = 5, MSWD 12) calc-alkalic high-K I-type Talun metagranite occurs southern Tailuko belt Tananao metamorphic complex, Taiwan. Structural and paleostress analyses provide new insights into the Quaternary kinematics of outermost fold‐and‐thrust units southwestern Taiwan Foothills. The frontal folds are interpreted as fault‐related folds, their tectonic evolution through space time is tightly constrained. Fold development correlated with reef building on top anticlines. Moreover, we field evidence that NW–SE fault zones oblique to structural grain belt probably acted transfer during fold‐thrust emplacement. Two...

The arcuate Pakuashan anticline is located in the outermost front units of Western Foothills Taiwan. This oblique feature deformation investigated terms combined morphostructural analysis, based on imagery and digital elevation model as well microtectonic analysis fault slip data. A subsurface structural study available seismic data was also carried out, resulting improved mapping Neogene series associated structures. allowed construction several along‐strike cross sections. Such analyses...

Analytical electron microscopic observations have been carried out on a garnet peridotite from the Maobei area, Sulu ultrahigh-pressure terrane. The results showed that olivine in this (5.3-6.6 GPa; 853-957 °C), contains precipitates of chromian magnetite and chromian-titanian hematite at dislocations (001) faults. Specific crystallographic relationships were determined between these host, viz. [101]Mt//[001]Ol, [110]Mt//[01̄1]Ol, [01̄1]Mt//[011]Ol; [0001]Hm//[100]Ol [101̄0]Hm//[001]Ol....

Abstract The asterism effect of star garnet has been attributed to the oriented distribution needle‐like rutile inclusions. Abstract Regularly oriented orthopyroxene (opx) and forsterite (fo) inclusions occur as opx + rutile (rt) or fo rt inclusion domains in garnet (grt) from Otrøy peridotite. In contrast, two sets of COR, is, COR‐I: <111> grt //<001> {110} ∼//∼{100} (∼13° off) COR‐II: //<011> (∼14° off), four grains analysed. Both variants a blade‐like habit...

ABSTRACT Kyanite and staurolite occur in the Tananao Metamorphic Complex as submicron inclusions almandine‐rich garnet from a metamorphosed palaeosol weathering horizon, near Hoping, eastern Taiwan. Quartz, rutile/brookite zircon are also found associated garnet. Employing reaction ilmenite+kyanite+quartz=almandine+rutile, breakdown of quartz thermobarometers, these submicron‐scale minerals formed at >8.3–8.8 kbar < 660–690 °C. This P–T estimate is different that (i.e. 5–7 530–550 °C)...
