While the majority of Drosophila species lays eggs onto fermented fruits, females suzukii pierce skin and lay into ripening fruits using their serrated ovipositors. The changes oviposition site preference must have accompanied this niche exploitation. In study, we established an assay to investigate effects commensal microbes deposited by conspecific heterospecific individuals showed that presence on substrate enhances egg laying melanogaster biarmipes , but discourages D. . This result...

This study proposes an object detector for apple trees as a first step in developing agricultural digital twins. An original dataset of orchard images was created and used to train Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) You Only Look Once (YOLO) models. Performance evaluated using mean Average Precision (mAP). YOLO significantly outperformed SSD, achieving 91.3% mAP compared the SSD’s 46.7%. Results indicate YOLO’s Darknet-53 backbone extracts more complex features suited tree detection. work...

Mutations in the ABCD1 gene that encodes peroxisomal protein cause X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD), a rare neurodegenerative disorder. More than 70% of patient fibroblasts with this missense mutation display either lack or reduction because posttranslational degradation. In study, we analyzed stability mutant proteins (p.A616T, p.R617H, and p.R660W) X-ALD found p.A616T has capacity to recover its function by incubating at low temperature. case such mutation, chemical compounds...

Abstract Oviposition site choice has a large impact on offspring performance. Unlike other vinegar flies that colonize decaying fruits, Drosophila suzukii lay eggs into hard ripening fruits by using their enlarged and serrated ovipositors (oviscapts). This behavior an advantage over species providing access to the host fruit earlier avoiding competition. However, larvae are not fully adapted low-protein diet, availability of intact healthy is seasonally restricted. Thus, investigate...
