Blockchain technologies are expected to make a significant impact on variety of industries. However, one issue holding them back is their limited transaction throughput, especially compared established solutions such as distributed database systems. In this paper, we re-architect modern permissioned blockchain system, Hyperledger Fabric, increase throughput from 3,000 20,000 transactions per second. We focus performance bottlenecks beyond the consensus mechanism, and propose architectural...

This article explores the relationship between trust, commitment, and giving behavior. It operationalizes trust commitment by developing measurement scales for each construct. The technique of structural equation modeling is used to determine whether directly affects behavior or its effects are mediated commitment. concluded that plays a mediating role, implications professional fundraising practice discussed.
Background Loneliness is associated with many mental health conditions, as both a potential causal and an exacerbating factor. Richer evidence about how people problems experience loneliness, what makes it more or less severe, needed to underpin research on strategies help address loneliness. Methods Our aim was explore experiences of well helps it, among diverse sample adults living in the UK. We recruited purposively via online networks community organisations, most interviews conducted...

In recent years, the increase in number of people entering university has contributed to a greater variability background those beginning programmes. Consequently, it become even more important understand student’s prior knowledge given subject. Two main reasons for this are produce suitable first year curriculum and ascertain whether student would benefit from additional support. Therefore, order that any necessary steps can be taken improve performance, ultimate goal ability predict future...

Using drones to track multiple individuals simultaneously in their natural environment is a powerful approach for better understanding group primate behavior. Previous studies have demonstrated that it possible automate the classification of behavior from video data, but these been carried out captivity or ground-based cameras. To understand and self-organization collective, whole troop needs be seen at scale where can relation which ecological decisions are made. This study presents novel...
ABSTRACT Despite rising public interest and concern only a handful of extant studies have addressed the performance fundraising techniques outlined returns that might be expected. To date no one has examined accruing from direct marketing activities in fund-raising. In this paper we present results study 150 UK charities currently employing range tools/techniques indicate ROI can achieved through each. Cold warm mailings are considered, as reciprocal mailings, unaddressed mail, DRPA, DRTV...
Collaborative Filtering (CF) is fundamentally characterized by Recommender Systems (RSs), which have recently attracted researchers' attention. The ever-increasing data about users and items the emergence of machine learning approaches motivated recent development CF. sparsity caused lack recorded transactions makes it challenging for CF to distinguish between users' similar preferences. As a result issue, ultimately lacks ability generate useful recommendations suffers from poor...
