Intra-Discal Vacuum phenomenon (IDVP) is associated with advanced disc degeneration, representing persistent intra-segmental movement. Our objective to further characterise IDVP patterns from both MRI and CT thus informing on an otherwise poorly understood phenomenon. An observational analysis was performed, including over-60s population sample of 325 lumbar discs in 65 subjects (29 M, 36 F) low back pain +/- leg symptoms, the spine concomitant abdomen. Exclusion criteria were those...

Most comfortable loudness (MCL) levels for pure tones, broad- and narrow-band noise, connected speech were studied in three independent experiments using Békésy audiometers young normal-hearing males females. Differences MCL explored as a function of attenuation rate, sex, frequency the pure-tone stimuli, interrupted versus continuous instructional set, session, modified operation which allowed subject to hold intensity constant over time standard operation. There no significant or...

The effect of ascending and descending measurement methods on comfortable loudness (MCL) levels for continuous interrupted 1000-Hz pure tones was studied using Békésy audiometry 20 normal-hearing adults. Ascending pure-tone MCLs were significantly lower than both types stimuli with differences ranging from 12 to 30 dB. relationship between obtained unaffected by method.

Molecular representation learning (MRL) is a powerful tool for bridging the gap between machine and chemical sciences, as it converts molecules into numerical representations while preserving their features. These encoded serve foundation various downstream biochemical studies, including property prediction drug design. MRL has had great success with proteins general biomolecule datasets. Yet, in growing sub-field of glycoscience (the study carbohydrates, where longer carbohydrates are also...

Portions of the hearts 30 subjects found to have vesical schistosomiasis at autopsy were examined for presence ova in auricles and ventricles. In none discovered. Although schistosomal myocarditis may occur, it is a rare clinical myopathy, diagnosis an endemic area cannot be established during life.

Liver samples of bovine, swine, and poultry were fortified with 0, 5, 10, 20 ppb mixed standards an additional 6 carbamates as part a method extension study. Each the 3 species in this study was analyzed 4 times at fortification levels. The average 12 recoveries all levels greater than 90%, maximum coefficient variation less 18%.

Background. Management of open proximal metaphyseal fractures poses a significant challenge and is fraught with complications. These injuries are severe, often accompanied by extensive soft tissue vascular damage, leading to high risks infection long-term disability. Case presentation. Previous investigations on the variation with frequency of initial inner permeability μL iron reveals great disparity results. In this experiment certain refinements technique and analysis have been introduced which make accuracy adequate for comparison theory. The method used was to determine change in resonant a coil condenser combination caused by insertion permeable sample field coil. This is interpreted as being flux through same wire had measured previously over different range other...

Abstract A rapid and simple method of analysis has been developed for sorbitol in cooked sausage products. Sorbitol is extracted from products with water, an aliquot the extract freeze-dried, trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivative formed. An TMS-sorbitol injected into a gas chromatograph measured by flame ionization detector. Analysis fortified samples shows that recovery compares well known amounts added.
