Abstract The spectroscopic observations presented here were acquired during the 2017 August 21 total solar eclipse (TSE) with a three-channel partially multiplexed imaging spectrometer operating at extremely high orders (>50). 4 R ⊙ extent of slit in north–south direction scanned corona starting from central meridian out to approximately 1.0 off east limb throughout totality. line widths and Doppler shifts Fe x (637.4 nm) xiv (530.3 emission lines, characteristic 1.1 × 10 6 K 1.8 electron...

We describe a new inquiry design aimed at teaching advanced high-school to senior college students the basics of stellar populations. The is designed have come up with their own version Hertzsprung-Russell diagram as tool understand how stars evolve based on color, mass, and luminosity. makes use pictures spectra stars, which analyze interpret answer questions they beginning. undergo similar experience real astronomers, using same tools methods figure out phenomena are trying understand....
The arrival of robotic telescopes has increased productivity among astronomers and opened fields to people who previously would not have been able participate. Since the advent telescopes, a new generation started arise. A in their teens, freed from late night observing data processing, are now making scientific contributions field alongside professional astronomers. We present some award winning work being done by young high school middle Hawai'i using innovation telescopes.
