High doses of opioids are frequently used to treat postoperative pain after spine surgery. This leads opioid-related side effects like nausea, vomiting, respiratory depression, etc. The current study is an attempt find a safe analgesic adjuvant, which will afford opioid sparing property.Sixty-six patients undergoing surgery were randomized into 1 the 3 groups-group K (ketamine bolus 0.25 mg/kg followed by infusion mg/kg/h with midazolam 10 μg/kg and μg/kg/h mixed in same pump), group D...

Objectives/Hypothesis The aim of this study was to compare the effect dexmedetomidine and propofol on airway dynamics, cardiorespiratory system, emergence following drug‐induced sleep endoscopy (DISE). Study Design Prospective, randomized, single‐blinded study. Methods Sixty patients age 18 65 years in American Society Anesthesiologists physical status groups 1 2 scheduled undergo DISE were randomly allocated either Group P (N = 30; receiving infusion at 50–150 μg/kg/min) or D bolus μg/kg...

Abstract There is a lack of consensus and uniformity about the test dose in epidurals for labor analgesia. We, therefore, conducted questionnaire-based survey to assess current practice India regarding test-dose among practicing obstetric anesthetists. A Google form based questionnaire was circulated 300 members Association Obstetric Anesthesiologists (AOA) which 128 (42.7%) responded. According our survey, analgesia routinely practiced by only 40 (32%) responders. Sixty-eight (53.1%)...

Induction of anesthesia can be distressing both for children and their parents. Nonpharmacological behavioral interventions reduce the anxiety without significant adverse effects as seen with sedative medications. We hypothesized that use incentive-based game therapy in conjunction parental involvement would a simple cost-effective intervention reducing preoperative children.

Background: Videolaryngoscopes are increasingly being used in potentially difficult airway. McCoy laryngoscope provides definitive advantage over conventional laryngoscopes cervical spine patients. The aim of this study was to compare the performance CMAC® videolaryngoscope with Laryngoscope patients a collar. Material and Methods: Sample size at least 22 each group calculated using Intubation Difficulty Scale (IDS) score as primary outcome. 60 American Society Anesthesiologists I II...

Summary Background Endotracheal intubation in lateral position infants is a challenge. This difficulty may be surmounted to some extent by using videolaryngoscopes but the routine use of these devices as tool secure airway remains unevaluated. Therefore, we conducted prospective, randomized controlled trial compare conditions achieved with CMAC videolaryngoscope and Miller Laryngoscope infants. We hypothesized that would provide better laryngoscopic view reduce time compared blade. Methods...

Summary Background Studies that have compared and quantified the oropharynageal leak pressure ( OPLP ) adequacy of ventilation with supraglottic airway devices in different head neck positions been done adult populations. The effects head–neck position changes on functioning I‐gel ™ pediatric population still remain unevaluated. Aim This study aimed to quantify influence namely neutral, maximum flexion, extension , scoring, fiberoptic grading using anesthetized, paralyzed children. Methods...

Early recovery from anesthesia and avoidance of analgesics with respiratory depressant properties are vital for maintenance extubated airway in cervical spine surgeries. The current study investigated the role dexmedetomidine as an anesthetic sparing agent a sole postoperative analgesic these cases.Sixty adult patients undergoing surgeries were randomized into 2 groups. Wilms' tumor (WT) is the most common pediatric renal that often spreads to inferior vena cava and sometimes up right atrium (RA). We describe successful management of 3-year-old child diagnosed with WT having extension RA. He was operated under cardiopulmonary bypass extubated on postoperative day 2 discharged. Perioperative anesthesia concerns were shock from dynamic tricuspid valve obstruction, intraoperative massive blood loss, a higher risk pulmonary thromboembolism during manipulation.
