Due to a complex geological and biotic history, the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (IT), has been long recognized as driver for evolutionary divergence numerous lowland highland taxa. Widely distributed in lowlands American continent, White-Tipped Dove (Leptotila verreauxi) is polytypic species with 13 subspecies.
