Fuller's rose weevil, Naupactus cervinus (= Asynonychus = Pantomorus cervinus) (Boheman), is a cosmopolitan pest that currently represents serious quarantine problem for the Chilean citrus industry due to its similarity at egg stage with xanthographus (Germar). The objective of this research was study biological aspects associated N. and oviposition habits under laboratory conditions on orange (Citrus sinensis [L.] Osbeck) fruit.Adult were collected from field carry out research. Results show...

Many genetic studies in insects require sex identification of individuals all developmental stages. The most common chromosome system lepidopterans is WZ/ZZ; the W present only females. Based on two chromosome-specific short sequences (CpW2 and CpW5) described Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), we identified homologous female-specific Lobesia botrana Den. & Schiff, a polyphagous very harmful species Chile since 2008. From this starting point, extended sequence information using...

Abstract Rapid and cost-efficient identification of Naupactus species is becoming a key process for the exportation citrus fruit from Chile other countries, considering quarantine regulations some cosmopolitan genus Naupactus. This study deals with development fast sensitive detection protocol cervinus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (Boheman) xanthographus (Germar) based on multiplex TaqMan Real-time polymerase chain reaction. Both N. primer probe sets achieved species-specific in linear range...
