Pickering emulsions represent an important class of functional materials with potential applications in sustainability and healthcare. Currently, the synthesis relies heavily on use strongly adsorbing molecular modifiers to tune surface chemistry nanoparticle constituents. This approach is inconvenient potentially a dead-end for many since adsorbed prevent interactions between nanosurface its surroundings. Here, we demonstrate general modifier-free construct by using combination stabilizer...
Understanding the interplay between nanoparticles, biomaterials and drug molecules in biological environments is important but studying these interactions complex systems such as biofilms challenging. Here, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with gold nanostars (NS) was used to monitor how biofilm components influence binding SERS signals of two antibiotics, levofloxacin (Levo) ampicillin (Amp). The both antibiotics were reduced by approximately 70% 90% (Amp) environments....
Ex situ biofilm samples were used to study the interactions between SERS-enhancing Ag and Au particles components without complexity associated with highly structured in biofilms.
