Abstract Aim Topographic complexity is widely accepted as a key driver of biodiversity, but at the patch‐scale, complexity–biodiversity relationships may vary spatially and temporally according to environmental stressors mitigates, species richness identity potential colonists. Using manipulative experiment, we assessed spatial variation in patch‐scale effects on intertidal biodiversity. Location 27 sites within 14 estuaries/bays distributed globally. Time period 2015–2017. Major taxa...

Abstract Background Cancer affects patients and their families, but few data are available on factors associated with diversity of family structures among cancer. Family is a source both support responsibility that must be understood to families. Methods Pooled (2004–2015) from the National Health Interview Study were used compare characteristics cancer survivors without minor children differences by sex race/ethnicity children. Results 13.9% have in household, this experience more likely...

Abstract Quantitative subtidal surveys of fishes, macro‐invertebrates and sessile organisms at 33 sites within the Lord Howe Island Marine Park revealed a rich fauna flora, including 164 40 mobile invertebrate taxa, 53 coral other 32 algal two seagrasses. The biota in this newly‐zoned marine park was overwhelmingly tropical when species lists were tabulated; however, with distributions centred on temperate coasts eastern Australia New Zealand occurred disproportionately high densities...

Ophryotrocha shieldsi, sp. nov. is described from Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania, Australia, where it occurs in high densities beneath the sea cages of fish farms. SCUBA and ROV underwater observations revealed closely spaced mounds aggregations new species. It related to O. lobifera Oug, a species reported farms whale-falls North Sea, which can be distinguished by its ovate rather than triangular dorsal lateral lobes, palps with small globular longer digitate palpostyles, additional jaw differences.

Objective: Biorepositories have been key resources in examining genetically-linked diseases, particularly cancer. Asian Americans contribute to biorepositories at lower rates than other racial groups, but the reasons for this are unclear. We hypothesized that attitudes toward biospecimen research mediate relationship between demographic and healthcare access factors, willingness donate blood purposes among individuals of Korean heritage. Methods: Descriptive statistics bivariate analyses...

Abstract Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) disproportionately affects midlife and older adults in the US globally is marked by significant disparities across certain nativity groups (foreign-born, native-born, second-generation immigrants (SGI)). While previous research has predominantly focused on diabetes prevalence racial groups, there exists a gap understanding how this disease onset may differ based immigration status nativity. This study utilized data from nationally representative...
