A new heterotrophic dinoflagellate, Protoperidinium vietnamicum sp. nov. is described from the coastal waters of Vietnam. It characterized by an elongated, pentagonal to pyriform body in ventral and dorsal view, with moderate dorsoventral compression. Epitheca tapering into a robust apical horn, which shorter than antapical horns. Cingulum equatorial, descending about 0.50–0.75 its width. Sulcus wide, shallow, slightly oblique. Plate 1′ ortho‐type, intercalary 2a 3a plates are pentagonal. 1a...
Photosynthetic properties are essential for the evaluation of phytoplankton photosynthetic efficiency as well their physiological status in different waters. The present study measured situ minimum and maximum fluorescence (Fo, Fm), variable (Fv), (Fv/Fm) Nha Trang Bay to estimate seasonal community responses environmental conditions. varied from 0.03 0.55 among stations sampling times. Stations near shore (Cape Chut) estuary had higher Fv/Fm values than offshore stations. Seasonal spatial...
