"Spain's Methyl Bromide (MB) Alternatives Project" has been developing/demonstrating alternative fumigants for methyl bromide on strawberry in Huelva since 1997. Here, we describe our research carried out between 2008 and 2010. In all the trials 'Cam
Research aimed at finding alternatives to methyl bromide has tended focus on strawberries, since this crop is the largest consumer in Spain, pre-plant soil fumigation with bromide, or mixtures of and chloropicrin, are standard practices for controlling soil-borne diseases. Methyl however, been phased out due its environmental risks except critical use exemptions. Soil fumigants were evaluated as two high-elevation strawberry nurseries Spain. Strawberry plants produced high elevation fruit...
BACKGROUND: Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) is among the most widely consumed fruits in world and its cultivation increasing worldwide. This continuous increase acreage concomitant with development of new varieties by numerous breeding programs. Due to strawberry a microclimatic crop, behaviour cultivars could vary depending on many agronomical environmental factors such as temperature or humidity. Thus, for some traits, data from single crop season may not be enough suspect specific...
Nine strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) cultivars were grown under small and large tunnels throughout two consecutive cropping seasons to investigate the influence of cover system on yield fruit quality. Early marketable yield, total first class in early firmness evaluated. Plants, from a high elevation nursery, planted last week October 2002 2003 two-row raised beds covered by black plastic mulch, then, mid-November plants with film or tunnel. Significant differences found for all...
This research was carried out in order to know about the effect of low temperature on strawberry carpels maturation and finally obtaining misshapen fruit. Two groups 20 plants (cv. 'Camarosa') were put down temperatures 22 or 7°C with a photoperiod 11 h light/13h dark. Then, five flowers at different development stages: 4, 3, 2, 1 days before anthesis 1, 5 7 after chosen pollinated. 24 hours later, each case, carpel estimated. Results showed differences under culture conditions, according...
Mature nursery strawberry plants might be described as those that show uniform stands and good field performance, when planted inmediately after digging. When immature due to an early harvest are used, usually the result is a poor performance throughout plant life. A National INIA Project was developed using from two nurseries located in Castilla-Leon (Spain). Three genotypes were treated with different nitrogen rates. Commercial daughter sampled mid-September until second week of November....
The expansion of pig production is due to the intensification animal’s breeding process. Outdoor farming systems have been replaced by intensive with limited space and high animal density. Due confinement, a greater number animals in smaller space, addition turnover, there was also an increase frequency certain diseases, including respiratory their form transmission, pathogenesis epidemiology.
A mixed-breed cat was presented at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco’s veterinary hospital. The animal showed an irrigated corneal lesion, congestive conjunctiva and touch sensitivity. We carried out tests for pupillary reflexes fluorescein test. From those tests, it found that pupil remained unchanged test negative. Definitive diagnosis made upon a second visit to hospital, through observation material strips taken via swab, scraping imprint. definitive Eosinophilic keratoconjunctivitis.
