ABSTRACT
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of BRAF V600E mutation screening ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) specimens in patients with thyroid nodule. Methods The status were assessed FNA 104 nodules before operations. The status, clinical, pathology records reviewed associations between these characteristics papillary cancer(PTC) analyzed. Results Seventy-one PTC 14 benign included this study. mutations found 57/71(80%) PTC. All had no mutation. sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive negative differentiation 80%, 100%, 100% 50% (P<0.001). In 44 who underwent surgery, central compartment lymph node metastases extrathyroidal invasion not significantly different BRAF-positive BRAF-negative PTC(P=0.283 0.307). Conclusions BRAF may be a potential tool to facilitate ultrasound diagnosis PTC, presence BRAFV600E was associated factors. Key words: Ultrasonography; Thyroid neoplasms; Biopsy, fine-needle; BRAF
