One center's experiences of 101 cases of kidney transplants from cardiac death donors.

ABSTRACT
In 2011, a pilot program of organ donation after cardiac death was begun at the First Affiliated Hospital Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, where we hosted one largest transplant programs in country. We report our initial single-center experiences kidney from deaths.From January 2011 to July 2013 center, 101 transplants donors were performed. The results compared with those 50 brain performed during same time.Delayed graft function occurred more frequently than kidneys (16.8% vs 4.0%; P = .035). There no difference incidence acute rejection between and (10.9% 6.0%). Actual 1-year survival rate similar (donation 94.4% 96.2%). Estimated glomerular filtration 12 months (73.8 ± 20.0 77.8 22.7 mL/min/1.73 m2).Kidney have comparable short-term outcomes donors. Donation can play crucial role overcoming shortage China.
