The semiconductor pixel detectors Medipix2, Timepix and Medipix3 (256x256 square pixels, 55x55 μm each) are superior imaging devices in terms of spatial resolution, linearity dynamic range. This makes them suitable for various applications such as radiography, neutronography, micro-tomography X-ray defectoscopy. In order to control manage complex measurements a multi-platform software package acquisition data processing with Java graphical user interface has been developed. functionality the...

We report on laser cooling of a large fraction positronium (Ps) in free flight by strongly saturating the 1^{3}S-2^{3}P transition with broadband, long-pulsed 243 nm alexandrite laser. The ground state Ps cloud is produced magnetic and electric field-free environment. observe two different laser-induced effects. first effect an increase number atoms after time has spent long-lived 2^{3}P states. second one-dimensional Doppler Ps, reducing cloud's temperature from 380(20) to 170(20) K....

MoEDAL is designed to identify new physics in the form of long-lived highly ionizing particles produced high-energy LHC collisions. Its arrays plastic nuclear-track detectors and aluminium trapping volumes provide two independent passive detection techniques. We present here results a first search for magnetic monopole production 13 TeV proton-proton collisions using technique, extending previous publication with 8 data during Run 1. A total 222 kg detector samples was exposed forward region...

The MoEDAL experiment is designed to search for magnetic monopoles and other highly-ionising particles produced in high-energy collisions at the LHC. largely passive detector, deployed Interaction Point 8 on LHC ring, relies two dedicated direct detection techniques. first technique based stacks of nucleartrack detectors with surface area ~18m2, sensitive particle ionisation exceeding a high threshold. These are analysed offline by optical scanning microscopes. second trapping charged an...

Timepix3 detectors are the latest generation of hybrid active pixel Medipix/Timepix family. Such consist an sensor layer which is connected to readout ASIC (application specific integrated circuit), segmenting detector into a square matrix 256 $$\times $$ pixels (pixel pitch 55 $$\upmu m). Particles interacting in material create charge carriers, drift towards pixelated electrode, where they collected. In each pixel, time interaction (time resolution 1.56 ns) and amount created carriers...
