Abstract The use of synthetic pigment‐containing products on golf playing surfaces by course superintendents has increased dramatically to provide green color and improve stress tolerance. Most turf colorants are synthesized from various phthalocyanine pigments, which share visible spectral properties with plant tissue. Vegetation indices, such as normalized difference (NDVI), commonly used researchers quantify health or quality. Research reports indicate that canopy reflectance is sometimes...
The ability of the soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) to reproduce on eight weed species commonly occurring in Iowa was evaluated greenhouse and field microplot experiments. Population densities increased H. glycines-susceptible but not glycines-resistant soybean, Canada thistle, cocklebur, eastern black nightshade, giant foxtail, lambsquarters, redroot pigweed, velvetleaf, wild sunflower. All weeds were nonhosts this glycines race 3 population
Germicidal UV light (UV-C) has been shown to effectively suppress several plant pathogens as well some arthropod pests. Recent reports describe the efficacy of nighttime applications UV-C at doses from 100 200 J/m 2 in vineyards reduce grape powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator). Our vitro studies confirmed inhibit germination E. necator and Botrytis cinerea conidia, demonstrated a range tolerances within collection isolates, showed growth stage–specific effects on B. cinerea. Nighttime use was...
