We studied 40 strains of the species complex formerly classified as single Sporothrix schenckii to identify new within this and evaluate their antifungal susceptibility profiles. Based on phenotypic tests (ability grow at 37°C, colony diameters, pigmentation colonies, well assimilation sucrose raffinose) molecular assays (amplification a fragment calmodulin gene), here we report identification S. albicans, brasiliensis, luriei, schenckii; two isolates these were detected...

Dermatophytosis which is characterized by a superficial infection confined to keratinised tissues, the most common fungal disease in small animal veterinary medicine. It unreliable diagnose dermatophytosis on basis of clinical signs alone, not only for variable nature dermatological findings but also because there are several other skin diseases mimic typical lesion (circular lesions with alopecia). The present study reports laboratory results an extensive survey evaluating and parasitic...

ABSTRACT We have determined the in vitro activity of several antibacterial and antifungal drugs against Pythium insidiosum using broth microdilution (BMD), disk diffusion, Etest methods. The largest zones inhibition (disk diffusion) lowest BMD MICs were observed for azithromycin, clarithromycin, linezolid, mupirocin, doxycycline, minocycline, tigecycline. activities suggest that antibacterials, which act by inhibiting protein synthesis, are promising candidate therapies treatment pythiosis.

ABSTRACT In this text we evaluated the in vitro antifungal activities of terbinafine combined with caspofungin, miconazole, ketoconazole, and fluconazole against 17 Pythium insidiosum strains by using microdilution checkerboard method. Synergistic interactions were observed caspofungin (41.2% strains), (41.2%), ketoconazole (29.4%), miconazole (11.8%). No antagonistic effects observed. The combination plus or may have significant therapeutic potential for treatment pythiosis.

We describe the in vitro activity of macrolides and tetracycline antibiotics against Pythium insidiosum. The MICs were determined according to CLSI procedures (visual MIC) by a colorimetric method [3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT)]. lowest geometric mean (GM) MIC (MICs μg/ml) (0.39 0.7 visual reading method, respectively) ranges (0.125 2.0) obtained for minocycline, while highest shown erythromycin (GM 7.58 12.25 respectively, ranged from 2 32). This...

A clinical epidemiological study was conducted among 34 rural properties located within the Brazilian Pantanal region and nearby areas between 2007 2010. The diagnosis of equine pythiosis based on antibody detection (by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), polymerase chain reaction, histopathological analysis, cultures positive for Pythium insidiosum. majority affected animals (85%) were in biome, which had a higher disease prevalence (0.9%-66.7%) than that Cerrado (2.7%-33.3%). more...

The present study investigated the in vitro and vivo interactions among azithromycin, clarithromycin, minocycline, tigecycline against Pythium insidiosum. In antimicrobial activities were determined by broth microdilution method accordance with CLSI document M38-A2, antibiotic assayed using checkerboard MIC format. efficacy was a rabbit infection model. geometric mean MICs of P. insidiosum were, respectively, 1.91, 1.38, 0.91, 0.79 μg/ml. Herein, we describe the in vitro activity of a combination organoselenium compounds diphenyl diselenide and ebselen alone with amphotericin B, caspofungin, itraconazole, voriconazole against 25 clinical isolates Fusarium spp. For this analysis, used broth microdilution method based on M38-A2 technique checkerboard method. Diphenyl (MIC range = 4–32 μg/ml) 2–8 showed tested. The most effective combinations were (synergism rates): + B (88%), (80%), (72%), (64%). Combination caspofungin...

Here, a microdilution technique based on the M27-A2 protocol (NCCLS, 2002) was employed to compare susceptibilities of Candida albicans and dubliniensis essential oils extracted from plants used as spices. The chemical compositions were defined analysis retention indices obtained by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy. Taken together, results showed that activity compounds against two species similar.
