The Puyehue-Cordón Caulle Volcanic Complex eruption occurred on June 4, 2011 (2236 m a.s.l. 40°32′S, 72°7′W). As a consequence, wide areas of Argentina were covered by volcanic ash. In order to investigate the effects ashfall chironomid assemblages, we conducted study at Ñireco River in southwestern part Natural Reserve Nahuel Huapi National Park that crosses city San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina. We assessed changes assemblage attributes and 18 biological traits, comparing...
In this paper, the utility of a partial sequence COI gene, DNA barcoding region, for identification species black flies in austral region was assessed. Twenty-eight morphospecies were analyzed: eight genus Austrosimulium (four subgenus s. str., three Novaustrosimulium, and one unassigned to subgenus), two Cnesia, Gigantodax, Paracnephia, Paraustrosimulium, six Simulium (subgenera Morops, Nevermannia, Pternaspatha). The neighbour-joining tree derived from barcode sequences grouped most...
ABSTRACT The Humid Pampa, center-east of Argentina, is the most important socio-economical area country. Several shallow lakes have been focus many studies due to significant changes in their trophic status related human activities and global warming recorded since beginning twentieth century. Although chironomids used extensively paleoclimatic paleoenvironmental research, they are rarely for reconstructions Pampean lakes. aim this paper contribute knowledge chironmids' community composition...
The creole perch, Percichthys trucha is endemic to southern South America. objective of this work was identify the food groups juvenile perch (up one year old) in its natural environment, Espejo Chico Lake. A total 99 individuals fromwere caught, measured and weighed, their condition factor (K) calculated. In diet analyses, nine different (orders) were found stomach contents: Diplostraca, Cyclopoida, Amphipoda, Diptera, Coleoptera, Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Hymenoptera Odonata. Food items...
