Solvation thermodynamics-based models for predicting liquid-phase nonidealities and fluid-phase equilibria are gaining attention in modern chemical process product development. Among this class of thermodynamic models, COSMO-RS COSMO-SAC two variants used extensively industry. A key input to these is the so-called sigma profile, i.e., a histogram charge density distribution over molecular surface. Typically, profiles generated from quantum mechanical calculations with structure conformation...

A two-dimensional liquid diffusion model was developed to predict the variation of transient moisture content and temperature distribution within composite food products. Rectangular-shaped potato apple slices were used form samples for experimental tests. To verify predictions theoretical model, a series experiments conducted on using heat pump-assisted convective dryer. Effects different adhesives hold two forming products, flipping products at selected intervals time individual slice...

This paper presents a comparative performance study of single-stage desalination processes with major configurations membrane distillation (MD) modules. MD modules covered in this are (a) direct contact (DCMD), (b) vacuum (VMD), (c) sweeping gas (SGMD), and (d) air gap (AGMD). MD-based simulated rigorous theoretical models supported by molecular thermodynamic property for the accurate calculation metrics. The metrics considered systems permeate flux energy efficiency, i.e., gained output...

ABSTRACT The effect of various pretreatments on drying kinetics as well quality parameters selected vegetables and fruits was studied experimentally in a convective dryer. tested include application pinholes drilled holes different diameters densities, blanching freezing. Potato, cassava, dragon fruit red chilli were used the sample materials. As expected, increase diameter density under fixed conditions increased rate. Samples with showed better performance than those pinholes. improvement...

Asphaltene precipitation has been a major concern for petroleum industry due to its adverse effect on upstream production, midstream transportation, and downstream refining. As complex phenomenon involving solubility, aggregation, clustering, asphaltene extensively investigated correlated with empirical models equations. Based the insight regarding hierarchical structure of asphaltenes recently elucidated by Mullins, we present thermodynamic formulation onset precipitation. The accounts...

There is limited information regarding the use of quinoa fresh leaves as a vegetable. Thus, objective this study was to promote green vegetable, well conduct season extension feasibility using high tunnels. The conducted during spring seasons 2020, 2021, and 2022 at George Washington Carver farm Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, USA. Three genotypes were used randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications over years. Agronomic data leaf nutritional analyses for young...

Asphaltene precipitation is driven by self-association of asphaltene molecules to form nanoaggregates and subsequent formation clusters from (Mullins, O. C. Energy Fuels 2010, 24 (4), 2179–2207). Recently, a novel thermodynamic framework was proposed for the onset nanoaggregation in binary solvents with functional group-based UNIFAC model (Wang, M., et al. AIChE J. 2016, 62 1254–1264). In this work, computational chemistry-based COSMO-SAC applied aggregation thermodynamics predict...

This paper analyzed land cover changes in Gazipur Sadar - an important urban fringe of expanding Dhaka City, Bangladesh, by leveraging remotely sensed imageries between 1973 and 2017. Landsat images of1973, 1991, 2006, 2017 were classified using widely-preferred supervised classification method. Compared against ground-truth data, the reported accuracy ranges from 85% to 89%. Our maps reveal that built-up areas increased 312.9%, mostly replacing vegetation cover. An overall 199.7% decrease...
