We report a role for the mitochondrial single-stranded DNA binding protein (mtSSB) in regulating (mtDNA) replication initiation mammalian mitochondria. Transcription from light-strand promoter (LSP) is required both gene expression and generating RNA primers needed of mtDNA synthesis.
