Using solution spinning, which involves an intermediate gel-state, we obtained exceptionally strong carbon nanotube fibers that are tougher than either spider silk or any fiber used for mechanical reinforcement. We use these to make 100 micron diameter supercapacitors and electronic textiles. Per weight, the energy needed break is about 4× higher dragline 20× steel wire. This article describes this advance, comparisons with prior art, potential applications, present barriers large volume...
Organic polymers, such as poly(vinyl alcohol), pyrrolidone), and poly(styrene), were intercalated into single-walled carbon nanotube sheets by soaking the in polymer solutions. Even for short soak times, significant intercalation existing free volume was observed. Tensile tests on showed that Young’s modulus, strength, toughness increased factors of 3, 9, 28, respectively, indicating enhances load transmission between nanotubes.
We report the multiferroic properties of epitaxially (100) oriented BiMnO3 thin film on LaAlO3 substrate and preferentially (111) Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. Nano-size bits ferroelectric polarization can be easily written read by Kelvin force microscope (KFM). found that, for film, only has been induced at low writing biases, which makes reading process simple. This suggests that is a potential candidate high-density data storage device based KFM.
We report the magnetic properties of slightly electron-doped ${\text{Sm}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\text{Ca}}_{x}{\text{MnO}}_{3}$ $(0.80\ensuremath{\le}x\ensuremath{\le}0.92)$. The Griffiths phase behavior in inverse susceptibility was observed for $x\ensuremath{\ge}0.85$. thermomagnetic irreversibility found all samples could be explained according to influence martensitic strain on magnetization under various cooling histories. In modified diagram, low-field line passes through region phase,...
We have studied the structural phase transition of solid solutions (x)Bi(Zn1∕2Ti1∕2)O3–(1−x)PbTiO3. The temperature evolution x-ray diffraction patterns θ-2θ scans around {110} has been performed to check transitions: (101)∕(011) peak shifts a larger value, while (110) smaller value with increasing temperature. Finally, peaks merge same at Curie temperature, indicating tetragonal cubic transition. Tc coincides and increases as Bi(Zn1∕2Ti1∕2)O3 composition (x). lattice constant, unit cell...
The effect of octahedral tilting the $A$SnO${}_{3}$ ($A$ $=$ Ca, Sr, Ba) parent compound and bicolor $A$SnO${}_{3}$/${A}^{\ensuremath{'}}$SnO${}_{3}$ superlattice ($A$, ${A}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ is predicted from density-functional theory. In compound, structural phase transition as a function $A$-site cation size correlated with magnitude two modes (${a}^{\ensuremath{-}}$${a}^{\ensuremath{-}}$${c}^{0}$ ${a}^{0}$${a}^{0}$${c}^{+}$ tilting). in superlattices analyzed quantitatively associated...
The transport and magnetic properties of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 thin-films grown by pulsed laser deposition on (LaAlO3)0.3(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)0.7 single crystal substrates have been investigated. A systematic series with various thicknesses was used to establish a phase diagram which showed clear difference compared films SrTiO3 substrates, highlighting the importance film thickness, substrate strain. At 8 unit cells, boundary between metallic insulating groundstates, second abrupt metal-insulator...
This study compares the electrical resistivity, magnetization, and high-resolution neutron powder diffraction data obtained for Pr 0.5 Ca CoO 3 3-δ (δ∼0.045). Although both samples exhibit similar structural parameters, distortion of 6 octahedra is weaker in than at low temperatures. reduced decreases electron–lattice coupling, which increases itinerant nature e g electrons oxygen-deficient sample. In addition, oxygen deficiency can add Co 3+ ions into , yielding an increased population...

The existing data of 1269 Munsell matte color chips used as reference data. Under the standard condition D65 illuminant 10° observer 1964 CIE, colors was successfully using optimized root mean square error goodness fitting...
Abstract The use of nitrilotriacetic acid end‐functionalized polystyrenes (NTA‐PS) as a multifunctional nanocarrier for the aqueous dispersion CdSe, γ ‐Fe 2 O 3 and gold nanoparticles (NPs) is described. When amphiphilic end‐ functionalized NPs are dissolved together in tetrahydrofuran, addition water causes spontaneous formation micellar aggregates, resulting successful encapsulation NPs. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, vibrating...
Polycrystalline samples of Bi0.5−yLaySr0.5MnO3 (0.0≤y≤0.4) (BLSMO) have been synthesized to investigate the Bi3+ lone-pair effect on long-range charge-ordering (CO) state. Since ionic size La3+ is similar that and Mn valence state does not change with La doping, we obtained Bi CO without disturbance by other effects. The resistivity ρ(T) thermoelectric power S(T) BLSMO measured. A hysteretic behaviour was observed in both for y = 0.1 0.2. From onset behaviour, defined a temperature (TCO)...
We investigate the origin of anomalous enhancement ferromagnetism with decreasing tolerance factor $t$ in ${\mathrm{La}}_{0.15\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Y}}_{x}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.85}{\mathrm{MnO}}_{3}$. The decrease bends $\mathrm{Mn}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{O}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{Mn}$ bond angles from $180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$, which weakens antiferromagnetic (AFM) interaction and leads to monoclinic $C$-type AFM phase transition temperature, as well its fraction....
The birefringence of zinc oxide (ZnO) in the terahertz (THz) frequency range is measured using a parallel-polarization configuration THz time-domain spectrometer and compared with result an ab initio calculation. 0.180 at 1 shows good agreement calculated value 0.170 from full phonon consideration, both which are about 20 times larger than visible range. It found that difference transverse optical longitudinal (TO–LO) splitting between branches (A1 E1) predominantly contributes to huge ZnO region.
We report growth characteristics of epitaxial β-Na0.6CoO2 and γ-Na0.7CoO2 thin films on (001) sapphire substrates grown by pulsed-laser deposition. Reduction the deposition rate could change structure NaxCoO2 film from a β phase with an island mode to γ layer-by-layer mode. The exhibits spiral surface multiterraced islands highly crystallized texture compared that film. This heterogeneous can give example strain effect physical properties dynamics as well subtle nature structural change.
We have made SiO2 photonic band-gap crystal infiltrated with ferroelectric perovskite oxide (BaTiO3, PbTiO3, SrTiO3) by using self-assembly and sol-gel methods. Microscopic optical reflectivity has been measured to characterize pseudogap properties of small single crystallites different orientations. found significant redshift in opal BaTiO3 or whereas negligible shift SrTiO3 infiltration.
We report the results of neutron powder diffraction experiments on La0.15Ca0.85MnO3 and Y0.15Ca0.85MnO3. After an incomplete orthorhombic-monoclinic phase transition, residual orthorhombic undergoes enhancement Jahn–Teller distortion MnO6 octahedra. The degree is strongly influenced by coexisting monoclinic phase. Furthermore, ferromagnetism closely associated with this distortion, rather than buckling effect in Despite low concentration active Mn3+ ions, our result indicates important role...
