ABSTRACT We present the SARAO MeerKAT Galactic Plane Survey (SMGPS), a 1.3 GHz continuum survey of almost half (251° ≤l ≤ 358° and 2° 61° at |b| $1{_{.}^{\circ}}5$). SMGPS is largest, most sensitive, highest angular resolution 1 plane yet carried out, with an 8 arcsec broad-band root-mean-square sensitivity ∼10–20 μJy beam−1. Here, we describe first publicly available data release from which comprises cubes frequency-resolved images over 908–1656 MHz, power-law fits to images, zeroth moment...

ABSTRACT The Local Void is one of the nearest large voids, located at a distance 23 Mpc. It lies largely behind Galactic Bulge and therefore extremely difficult to observe. We use H i 21 cm emission observations from SARAO MeerKAT Plane Survey (SMGPS) study its surroundings over longitude range 329° < ℓ 55°, latitude |b| 1.5°, redshift cz 7500 $\rm km \, s^{-1}$. have detected 291 galaxies median rms sensitivity 0.44 mJy per beam 44 s^{-1}$ channel. find 17 deep inside Void, 96 border...

ABSTRACT We present the discovery of possibly youngest Galactic supernova remnant (SNR) with associated pulsar-wind nebula (PWN), which we name Perun (G329.9−0.5). was serendipitously discovered in Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder–Evolutionary Map Universe survey at 943 MHz, and subsequent follow-up observations were conducted Australia Telescope Compact observatory 5500 9000 MHz. combine these additional radio from MeerKAT, Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope, Murchison...

ABSTRACT We conducted a search for $\textrm {H}\, \scriptstyle \mathrm{I}$ emission of the gas-rich galaxies in Vela region (260° ≤ ℓ 290°, −2° b 1°) to explore Supercluster (VSCL) at Vhel ∼ 18 000 $\rm km\, s^{-1}$, largely obscured by Galactic dust. Within mostly Radio Frequency Interference-free band (250 < 25 s^{-1}$) MeerKAT, analysis focuses on 157 hexagonally distributed pointings extracted from South African Astronomy Observatory MeerKAT Plane Survey located (Vela−SMGPS)....

ABSTRACT This paper presents the first H i results extracted from South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) MeerKAT Galactic Plane Survey (SMGPS) – a narrow strip (Δb ∼ 3°) along southern Milky Way. The primary goal consisted in tracing great attractor (GA) wall across innermost zone of avoidance. We reduced segment spanning longitude range 302° ≤ ℓ 332° for redshift z 0.08. superb SMGPS sensitivity (rms = 0.3–0.5 mJy beam−1 per 44 km s−1 channel) and angular resolution (∼31″ × 26″)...

We conducted a search for HI emission of the gas-rich galaxies in Vela region ($260^{\circ} \leq \ell 290^{\circ}, -2^{\circ} b 1^{\circ}$) to explore Supercluster (VSCL) at $V_\mathrm{hel} \sim 18000$ km s$^{-1}$, largely obscured by Galactic dust. Within mostly RFI-free band ($250 < V_\mathrm{hel} 25000$ s$^{-1}$) MeerKAT, analysis focuses on $157$ hexagonally distributed pointings extracted from SARAO MeerKAT Plane Survey located (Vela$-$SMGPS). These were combined into 10 contiguous...

Abstract We conducted the MeerKAT Vela Supercluster survey, named Vela−$\rm {H}\, \scriptstyle \mathrm{I}$, to bridge gap between SARAO Galactic Plane Survey (Vela−SMGPS, −2○ ≤ b 1○), and optical near-infrared spectroscopic observations of (hereafter Vela−OPT/NIR) at |b| ≳ 7○. Covering coordinates from 263○ ℓ 284○ 1○ 6.2○ above, −6.7○ below (GP), we sampled 667 fields spread across an area ${\sim } \rm 242 ~deg^2$. With a beam size ∼38″ × 31″, \mathrm{I}$ achieved sensitivity $\langle rms...

We conducted the MeerKAT Vela Supercluster survey, named Vela$-$HI, to bridge gap between SARAO Galactic Plane Survey (Vela$-$SMGPS, $-2^{\circ} \leq b 1^{\circ}$), and optical near-infrared spectroscopic observations of (hereafter Vela$-$OPT/NIR) at $|b| \gtrsim 7^{\circ}$. Covering coordinates from $263^{\circ} \ell 284^{\circ}$ $1^{\circ} 6.2^{\circ}$ above, $-6.7^{\circ} -2^{\circ}$ below (GP), we sampled 667 fields spread across an area ${\sim} \rm 242 ~deg^2$.
