Reproducibility is a defining feature of science, but the extent to which it characterizes current research unknown. We conducted replications 100 experimental and correlational studies published in three psychology journals using high-powered designs original materials when available. Replication effects were half magnitude effects, representing substantial decline. Ninety-seven percent had statistically significant results. Thirty-six results; 47% effect sizes 95% confidence interval...

Abstract Leaders influence followers in many ways; one way is by eliciting positive emotions. In three studies we demonstrate that the nearly unstudied moral emotion of 'elevation' (a reaction to excellence) mediates relations between leaders' and their followers' ethical behavior. Study 1 used scenarios manipulated experimentally; study 2 examined employees' emotional responses leaders a natural work setting; 3 compared effects elevation those happiness, serenity, affect. We found...

While direct replications such as the “Many Labs” project are extremely valuable in testing reliability of published findings across laboratories, they reflect common reliance psychology on single vignettes or stimuli, which limits scope conclusions that can be reached. New experimental tools and statistical techniques make it easier to routinely sample appropriately treat them random factors. We encourage researchers get into habit including multiple versions content (e.g., stimuli...

Admiration is the other-praising emotion elicited by display of outstanding skills, talents, or achievements. Most leadership theories state that effective leaders are admired role models followers emulate. Nevertheless, no demonstration has been provided so far about actual admiration in leader-follower relationship. This paper shows who technical and managerial competences motivate employees means positive they elicit. Specifically, we hypothesized demonstrated their leader's skills...
