Until now, 20 species of leaf-mining micromoths the genus Phyllocnistis Zeller (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae) have been known to occur in Neotropical region. Here we revise previously and describe seven new species: four from French Guiana, P. kawakitai Brito & Lopez-Vaamonde, sp. nov., norak ohshimai petronellii nov.; and, three Brazil, helios Moreira, jupiter nov. xylopiella Becker, Lectotypes are designated for aurilinea Zeller, 1877; citrella Stainton, 1856; rotans sexangula Meyrick,...
The male, female, pupa and larva of a new species Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera), Locharcha opportuna Moreira Becker, are described illustrated with the aid optical scanning electron microscopy. A preliminary analysis mitochondrial DNA sequences including members related lineages is also provided. immature stages associated galls induced by Palaeomystella Fletcher (Lepidoptera: Momphidae) on Tibouchina sellowiana (Cham.) Cogn. (Melastomataceae), endemic to Atlantic Rainforest. Larvae...
The Melastomataceae are known hosts for many gallinducing insects and other arthropods.Tavares (1917), described 29 galls associated with various species of collected from the mountains near Nova Friburgo, in state Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also discovered that over one-third these were induced by lepidopterous larvae.Although, reared adults badly damaged mold high humidity; his brief diagnoses adult moths indicate they belonged to Momphinae (Coleophoridae).Houard (1933) 80 on tropical...
Three new cecidogenous species of Palaeomystella Fletcher (Lepidoptera, Momphidae) from the Brazilian Atlantic Rain Forest are described. Larvae P. fernandesi Moreira & Becker, sp. n., rosaemariae n. and tavaresi Becker Moreira, induce galls, respectively, on Tibouchina sellowiana (Cham.) Cogn., T. asperior Cogn. fissinervia (Schrank Mart. ex DC.) (Melastomataceae). Adults, immature stages galls illustrated, data life history a preliminary analysis mitochondrial DNA sequences, including...
Cliniodes rawlinsi, new species, from Brazil, is described. This species similar to the sympatric paranalis Schaus, 1920, and subflavescens Hayden, 2011. Illustrations of adults, their genitalia, are presented allow for identification.

The taxonomic status of 94 nominal species Noctuoidea from Cuba described by Herrich-Schäffer, and two Gundlach is discussed. Type material 49 preserved in Coll. Gundlach, Instituto de Ecologia y Sistemática, Havana, evaluated. Seventy names Herrich-Schäffer are recognized, one genus name 39 synonymized, 16 new combinations, four reinstated synonyms recalled synonymy established.
Thirty four species, belonging to 10 genera are treated; one genus and 53 species names new synonyms, six revised synonyms; combinations, three established; 11 lectotypes designated.
The identity of Syllepte incomptalis Hübner, 1823 is elucidated. Pantographa Lederer, 1863, syn. n., and Micromartinia Amsel, 1957, are junior synonyms 1823, including 15 species: S. (=P. idmonalis Druce, 1895, n.); acoetesalis (Walker, 1859), comb. n.; dialis Schaus, 1912 (=S. strigicincta Hampson, 1912, expansalis (Lederer, 1863), gorgonalis (Druce, 1895), limata (Grote & Robinson, 1867), scripturalis (Guenée, 1854), suffusalis fraternalis Becker, sp. from Mexico; confusalis n. Brazil,...
