Implantation of drug eluting stents (DES) in tortuous and/or calcified vessels is much more demanding compared with implantation bare metal (BMS) due to their larger diameters. It unknown whether stent coatings get damaged while crossing these lesions. In 42 patients (34 male, 68.1 +/- 10 years) 45 lesions (15.9 mm 7.9 mm), DES could not be implanted, even after predilatation. Diabetes was present 19 (45%). Sixty-one were used; Cypher select, 18 Taxus Liberté, CoStar, 5 Endeavor RX, 4 Xience...

Abstract Objectives: Mechanical properties of drug eluting stents (DES) will be measured to provide comparable numerical data assess deliverability, and thus clinical performance. Background: DES are routinely used in coronary interventions reduce the rates restenosis target vessel revascularizations. Current research is primarily concerned with issues related late stent thrombosis. However, mechanical a critical determinant consequently ultimate arbiter their Methods: (pushability,...

Purpose: To report early clinical outcomes with a novel double-layer stent for the internal carotid artery (ICA) and in vitro investigation of stent’s mechanical properties. Methods: A prospective single-center study enrolled 30 consecutive patients (mean age 73.1±6.3 years; 21 men) symptomatic (n=25) or high-grade (n=5) ICA stenosis treated new CGUARD Embolic Prevention System (EPS) stent, which has an inner open-cell nitinol design outer closed-cell polyethylene terephthalate layer. The...

Plasminogen activators (PA) and plasminogen activator inhibitors (PAI) have been implicated in the process of extracellular matrix degradation. To study their role bone turnover, we examined activity regulation PA PAI cultures periosteal osteoblast-like precursor cells mature from fetal rat calvariae. Both cell populations released tissue type a 50K species into culture medium. However, osteoblasts had strikingly lower higher than cells, indicating that osteoblast differentiation is...

Measured values of the amplitude voltage spike for different current impulses are presented. It is shown that this peak in nanosecond-range and can only be measured with a coaxial measuring arrangement having bandwidth some MHz. The results show clearly 10% related to characteristics ZnO used metal oxide (MO) surge arresters. initial influenced by composition material. To evaluate the in vitro mechanical and clinical implant behavior of a next-generation double-layer stent designed for carotid artery. The new CASPER-RX was implanted 12 patients (median age 69 years; 8 men) with high-grade symptomatic internal artery stenoses (mean 82%). In experiments, (8-×40-mm model) investigated respect to its radial force on expansion bending stiffness system expanded state, as well collapse pressure thin, flexible sleeve.
