ABSTRACT Forests are a critical interface between Earth's terrestrial biomass and the atmosphere that play pivotal role in biodiversity conservation ecosystem services provision. Despite their importance, study of forest canopies has been hindered by accessibility challenges. Because canopy ecology inadequately sampled from ground, historic dependence on ground‐based data limits our understanding biology at local regional scales, which turn can obstruct or challenge setting priorities. This...

Abstract Body mass is one of the most important phenotypic attributes in animal ecology and life history. This trait widely used fields macroevolution, since it influences physiology, morphological functions, a myriad ecological social interactions. In this data set, our aim was to gather comprehensive bird mammal body set from northern South America. We report mass, discriminated by sex, for 42,022 individual birds 7,441 mammals representing 1,317 species (69% Colombia’s avifauna) 270 (51%...

Although taxonomy, ecology, and natural history information of the arboreal spiny rats is available, many gaps in some species distribution still exist. We report here first records Peruvian Toro, Toromys rhipidurus (Thomas, 1928), southern Colombia. This rat was only known from Amazonia. These new extend geographical by about 61 km northward its nearest locality, at Río Yavarí, Peru. In addition, we provide notes on species.
