Ag/AgCl reference electrodes fabricated from pulled quartz tubes with orifice radii of 20 nm to μm were characterized in KCl solutions different concentrations by cyclic voltammetry. Linear current−voltage (i−V) dependence was observed micropipet (with micrometer-sized tips) the same concentration (0.01−1 M) inside and outside pipet, but current rectification found at nanopipet ≤0.1 M nanometer-sized tips). This is attributed formation a diffuse electrical double layer within tip orifice....

Midgap electronic states generated in sulfur doped terminal-methylated g-C3N4 extend the visible-light response to 700 nm, leading an efficient photocatalytic performance.
Stromatolites, distinctive fossil records within Precambrian strata, are essential for investigating the depositional environments of early Earth and geological settings conducive to hydrocarbon formation. The Luonan area is located in Shaanxi Province, China, where a large number stromatolites have been discovered Mesoproterozoic Erathem, providing new perspectives on paleoenvironment reservoir spaces. This study analyzes morphology stromatolites, associated microorganisms, mineralogy,...
Abstract Pitting corrosion and structure characteristics of carbon dioxide (CO2) products on N80, 1Cr, 4Cr steel were studied. The results indicated that Cr-containing steels can suppress pitting effectively. While the Cr content in matrix reached 4%, no appeared steel. existed mainly as amorphous compound Cr(OH)3 products. With improvement matrix, increased remarkably, which could not only reduce electrical conductivity but also improve cation selectivity These two factors resistance steels.
The thermodynamic aspects of the photocatalytic reduction Cr(VI) at are first discussed and contrasted for pH 0 10 aqueous media. photocorrosion is shown to be thermodynamically less favorable in basic A scheme one‐step removal via its subsequent immobilization [as ] demonstrated chromate solutions. Dissolved oxygen inhibit Cr(VI). preliminary kinetics analysis reveals adherence initial rate simple Langmuir model.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) have aroused global environmental concerns because of their toxicity and ubiquitousness in the biological systems. It is important to find an efficient method for decontamination understand chemical transformation environment. Here, we report that decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE209) undergoes reductive debromination reactions under visible-light irradiation (≥ 420 nm) presence various carboxylate anions are common media. The occur a stepwise manner,...
Spontaneous electron transfer, along with anion uptake by doping, form the basis of a new concept for reduction toxic Cr(VI) using an electronically conductive polymer, e.g., polypyrrole. Proof experiments are described which show that aqueous sulfuric acid solutions containing 5–100 ppm can be thus converted at ∼100% efficiency to environmentally more tractable Cr(III) species time intervals spanning several minutes. The reversibility polymer redox process enables electrochemical recycling...
Titanium dioxide with surface-loaded palladium (Pd-TiO2) was able to easily remove all ten bromine atoms from decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE209) within 1 h under the irradiation of sunlight or an artificial light source. By contrast, fewer than three were eliminated on pristine TiO2 even prolonged (5 h). During photocatalytic debromination, moreover, formed BDE intermediates exhibited a significant difference between Pd-TiO2 and systems, much less position selectivity for debromination...
Abstract An efficient redox reaction between organic substrates in solution and photoinduced h + vb /e − cb on the surface of photocatalysts requires or solvent to be adsorbed onto surface, is consequentially marked by a normal kinetic isotope effect (KSIE≥1). Reported herein universal inverse KSIE (0.6–0.8 at 298 K) for reductive dehalogenation aromatic halides which cannot adsorb TiO 2 [D 0 ]methanol/[D 4 ]methanol solution. Combined with situ ATR‐FTIR spectroscopy investigations,...
The molecules O2 and H2O dominate the cleavage of aromatic sp(2) C-C bonds, a crucial step in degradation pollutants aqueous TiO2 photocatalysis, but their precise roles this process have remained elusive. This can be attributed to complex oxidative species involved lack available models for reactions with high yield direct products. Here, we used oxygen-18 isotope labeled observe ring-opening reaction model compound 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (DTBC), which was mediated by photocatalysis an...
