Drastic changes have occurred in the vertical structure of deep waters eastern Mediterranean early 1990s, as dense water Aegean origin has displaced lighter Adriatic at bottom basins. This work suggests that initiation this process took place North winter 1986/1987 and was intensified by another formation event 1992/1993. The available observations from support such a scenario. Furthermore, we propose outflow Black Sea into through Dardanelles could act an insulator deeper layer atmosphere,...

Abstract. Operational forecasting of ocean circulation and marine ecosystem fluctuations requires multi-parametric real-time measurements physical biochemical properties. The architecture a system that is able to provide such from the upper-thermocline layers Mediterranean Sea described here. was developed for needs Forecasting System incorporates state-of-the-art sensors optical chemical in upper 100 m down 500 m. Independent moorings communicate via hydro-acoustic modems are hosting...

The rotational transitions R(0) to R(3) in pure HD gas have been studied absorption with 0.06-${\mathrm{cm}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ resolution at densities from 2 68 amagat 295 K. permanent dipole moment of was found be 8.83(28), 7.94(2), 7.88(3), and 8.43(10) for R(3), respectively, units ${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}4}$ D. These are general agreement ab initio calculations except an unpredicted strong state dependence. Collisional interference observed the parameter, proportional...

Abstract. During the pilot phase of Mediterranean Forecasting System (MFSPP) (2000 2003), a prototype observing system (Mediterranean Moored Multi-sensor Array – M3A) was designed, developed and operated in Cretan Sea for continuous oceanographic measurements real time. The main problems encountered were associated with biofouling, underwater aerial communication design surface buoy. In second MFS project named Towards Environmental Predictions (MFSTEP) (2003–2005), aim to solve those...

Using data from the Coastal Ocean Dynamics Experiment (CODE) and Island Current Experiment, internal tide off west coast of Vancouver was studied. Although semidiurnal barotropic velocity field in area weak, baroclinic found to be relatively strong with speeds up five times greater. The intermittent nature resolved by estimating M2 tidal harmonic coefficients every 24 hours 15-day overlaping intervals. These time-evolving were then analysed using spectral analysis methods. For most under...

In the Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean there are large discrepancies between in situ satellite ocean colour derived chlorophyll concentrations. The quantity that is monitored by satellites can be used estimation of concentration remote sensing reflectance, defined as ratio water leaving spectral radiance to downwelling irradiance. It determined field, with either above or in-water irradiance measurements. complex optical properties North-East Sea, including irradiance, were studied...

A polarized $^{3}\mathrm{He}$ target, which uses conventional optical pumping with $^{4}\mathrm{He}$ discharge lamps, has been used for the measurement of analyzing powers ${A}_{y}$(\ensuremath{\theta}) at energies 25.0, 30.0, 32.5, and 35.0 MeV. The statistical uncertainties in data are on order 0.03; systematic uncertainty is estimated to be 0.05. These compared fits predictions from various phase shift analyses.
