This research presents a new species in the genus Conocybe collected from tropical semi-arid District Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Morphological features, and DNA barcoding marker (ITS-region) were used for systematic placement of karakensis. The present is characterized by having medium-sized fruiting body, semi-ovate, orange-colored pileus, free, spaced, regular lamellae with central, light brown stipe, thick-walled, oblong basidiospores clavate shaped, tetra-sterigamtic basidia....
There are around 500 species of saprobic basidiomycetes in the genus Agaricus, which 21 reported from Pakistan. In this study, Agaricus karakensis sp. nov. is described as a new tropical semi-arid District Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The taxonomic identification was based on morphological features and ITS-region rDNA. Both, field data morpho-anatomical characterizations support that our specimens belong to section Bivelares family Agaricaceae, order Agaricales. phylogenetic tree, A. fall...
Medicinal macrofungi, like prized plants and animals, have dietary, therapeutic commercial significance. This knowledge, anchored in the traditional healthcare system, warrants identification of most prominent species harbouring novel natural products. A ethnobiological approach was adopted to collect ethnomycological data by interviewing 110 informants (95 men 15 women) inhabiting 10 settlements Bannu District, Pakistan. Visiting remote nomadic sites revealed unique its type. assessed...
In this work, we introduced a new report, Coprinopsis afrocinerea, coprinoid mushroom from Pakistan. This species was collected several times during the monsoon season; it found growing on animal dung and sandy soil mixed with wood chips leaf litter. taxon identified through morphological (macro- micromorphology) techniques molecular (ITS-region) markers. Results showed that Pakistani collection's macro- micro-morphological characters match type specimen of afrocinerea. phylogenetic tree,...
