We conducted phylogenetic analyses of the fern family Grammitidaceae using sequences from two cpDNA genes and morphological characters. Data were obtained for 73 species most recognized genera in family. The Adenophorus, Ceradenia, Calymmodon, Cochlidium, Enterosora , Melpomene each strongly supported as being monophyletic. Other that not monophyletic included Ctenopteris, Grammitis, Lellingeria, Micropolypodium, Prosaptia Terpsichore . Several previously unrecognized clades identified, some...

Aim To compare the species richness, and taxonomic life‐form composition of tropical montane pteridophyte floras on two well‐documented sites: Mount (Mt) Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo Parque Nacional (PN) Carrasco, central Bolivia. Methods Using published lists, we compared elevational distribution overall specific families, life‐forms along both study sites. Additionally, point‐diversity by establishing 108 plots 400 m 2 at PN 15 such Mt Kinabalu three a lowland site Danum Valley in south‐eastern...

Abstract The Blechnaceae is one of the most speciose fern families in New Zealand, with two genera represented: Blechnum and Doodia. We se‐quenced chloroplast trnL‐trnF locus for all species indigenous to plus several non‐indigenous species. Although deeper relationships were not well resolved by phylogenetic analyses these DNA sequences, groupings consistently recovered. Some have been previously suspected on basis morphological similarity and/or hybridisation (e.g., B. procerum group), are...

Abstract Grammitidoideae are the largest subfamily in Polypodiaceae and contain about 911 species. Progress has been made understanding overall phylogeny generic boundaries light of recent molecular works. However, majority species, especially Asian some critical type species genera remain unsampled . In this study, a dataset six plastid markers 1003 (112 new) accessions representing ca. 412 including Ctenopterella , Grammitis Moranopteris Radiogrammitis Themelium was assembled to infer...

Grammitid ferns are a well-supported clade of ~900 primarily tropical epiphytic species. Recent phylogenetic studies have found support for distinctive, geographically diverse group 24 species referred to as the Lellingeria myosuroides and provided evidence variety relationships within group, well hypotheses historical processes that produced current biogeographical patterns. We present new data analyses following primary conclusions: 1) L. is monophyletic pantropical; 2) sister more rich...

Following a recent phylogenetic study, we here review the circumscription of grammitid fern genus Oreogrammitis (Polypodiaceae: Grammitidoideae). We propose three new genera Calligrammitis, Devolia, and Glabrigrammitis, to accommodate clades resolved outside core Oreogrammitis. The taxonomic treatment is presented, morphology each shown with color plate.
