In this review, we present an up-to-date phenomenological summary of research developments in the physics Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP). A short historical perspective and theoretical motivation for rapidly developing field contemporary particle is provided. addition, introduce discuss role quantum chromodynamics (QCD) ground state, non-perturbative lattice QCD results on QGP properties, as well transport models used to make a connection between theory experiment. The experimental part presents...

We report on first measurements of low-mass electron-positron pairs in Pb-Au collisions at the CERN SPS beam energy 40 AGeV. The observed pair yield integrated over range invariant masses 0.2<m</=1 GeV/c(2) is enhanced expectation from neutral meson decays by a factor 5.9+/-1.5(stat)+/-1.2(syst data)+/-1.8(syst decays), somewhat larger than previously higher 158 results are discussed with reference to model calculations based pi(+)pi(-)-->e(+)e(-) annihilation modified rho propagator. They...

We present a measurement of e+e− pair production in central PbAu collisions at 158AGeV/c. As reported earlier, significant excess the yield over expectation from hadron decays is observed. The improved mass resolution data set, recorded with upgraded CERES experiment CERN-SPS, allows for comparison different theoretical approaches. clearly favor substantial in-medium broadening ρ spectral function density-dependent shift pole mass. model implies that baryon induced interactions are key...

Based on an evaluation of data pion interferometry and particle yields at midrapidity, we propose a universal condition for thermal freeze-out pions in heavy-ion collisions. We show that occurs when the mean free path lambda(f) reaches value about 1 fm, which is much smaller than spatial extent system freeze-out. This critical independent centrality collision beam energy from Alternating Gradient Synchrotron to Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.

The azimuthal angle distributions of neutral pions at midrapidity from Au+Au reactions 1 GeV/nucleon incident energy have been measured. An enhanced emission π0's perpendicular to the reaction plane is observed. asymmetry dependent on π0 momentum: spectrum harder than in plane. strength observed appears be more pronounced for charged particles and neutrons.Received 29 April 1993DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.71.835©1993 American Physical Society

Transverse momentum spectra of \ensuremath{\eta} mesons have been measured near the free nucleon-nucleon production threshold in heavy ion reactions $^{40}\mathrm{Ar}$+ $^{\mathrm{nat}}\mathrm{Ca}$, $^{86}\mathrm{Kr}$ + $^{\mathrm{nat}}\mathrm{Zr}$, and $^{197}\mathrm{Au}$+ $^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ at 1.0A GeV also $^{\mathrm{nat}}\mathrm{Ca}$ 1.5A GeV. We report a measurement of $\phi$ meson production in central Pb+Au collisions at E$_{lab}$/A=158 GeV. For the first time heavy-ion collisions, mesons were reconstructed same experiment both K$^+$K$^-$ and dilepton decay channel. Near mid-rapidity, this yields rapidity densities, corrected for value, 2.05 +- 0.14(stat) 0.25(syst) 2.04 0.49(stat)+-{0.32}(syst), respectively. The shape measured transverse momentum spectra is also close agreement channels. data rule out possible enhancement...

In this review, we provide a short outlook of some the currently most popular pictures and promising approaches to non-perturbative physics confinement in gauge theories. A qualitative by no means exhaustive discussion presented here covers such key topics as phases QCD matter, order parameters for confinement, central vortex monopole vacuum structure, fundamental properties string tension, realisations gauge-Higgs Yang-Mills theories, magnetic order/disorder phase transition among others.
