We present the Massive and Distant Clusters of WISE Survey (MaDCoWS), a search for galaxy clusters at 0.7<z<1.5 based upon data from Wide-field Infrared Explorer (WISE) mission. MaDCoWS is first cluster survey capable discovering massive these redshifts over full extragalactic sky. The divided into two regions -- region sky covered by Pan-STARRS (Dec>-30 degrees) remainder southern Dec<-30 degrees which shallower optical SuperCOSMOS Sky are available. In this paper we describe algorithm,...

We present a simultaneous analysis of galaxy cluster scaling relations between weak-lensing mass and multiple observables, across wide range wavelengths, that probe both gas stellar content. Our new hierarchical Bayesian model simultaneously considers the selection variable alongside all other observables in order to explicitly intrinsic property covariance account for effects. apply this method sample 41 clusters at $0.15<z<0.30$, with well-defined criteria based on RASS X-ray luminosity,...

We report the detection of Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect galaxy cluster XLSSU J021744.1-034536, using 30 GHz CARMA data. This was discovered via its extended X-ray emission in XMM-Newton Large Scale Structure survey, precursor to XXL survey. It has a photometrically determined redshift $z=1.91^{+0.19}_{-0.21}$, making it among most distant clusters known, and nominally for which SZ been measured. The spherically integrated Comptonization is $Y_{500}=(3.0\pm0.4)\times 10^{-12}$, measurement...

We present confirmation of the cluster MOO J1142+1527, a massive galaxy discovered as part Massive and Distant Clusters WISE Survey. The is confirmed to lie at z = 1.19, using Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy we robustly detect Sunyaev–Zel'dovich (SZ) decrement 13.2σ. SZ data imply mass M200m (1.1 ± 0.2) × 1015M⊙, making J1142+1527 most known > 1.15 second 1. For standard ΛCDM cosmology it further expected be one ∼5 clusters exist ≥ 1.19 over entire sky. We present CARMA 30 GHz Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) observations of five high-redshift ($z \gtrsim 1$), infrared-selected galaxy clusters discovered as part the all-sky Massive and Distant Clusters WISE Survey (MaDCoWS). The SZ decrements measured toward these demonstrate that MaDCoWS selection is discovering evolved, massive with hot intracluster gas. Using scaling relation calibrated South Pole Telescope at similar masses redshifts, we find have in range $M_{200} \approx 2-6 \times 10^{14}$...

We demonstrate the Sunyaev–Zel'dovich (SZ) effect imaging capabilities of Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA) by presenting an SZ map galaxy cluster RX J1347.5−1145. By combining data from multiple CARMA bands and configurations, we are able to capture structure this over a wide range angular scales, its bulk properties core morphology. find that roughly 9% cluster's thermal energy is associated with sub-arcminute-scale imparted merger, illustrating value...

Abstract Outbursts from active galactic nuclei (AGN) can inflate cavities in the intracluster medium (ICM) of galaxy clusters and are believed to play primary role offsetting radiative cooling ICM. However, details how energy AGN feedback thermalizes heat ICM is not well understood, partly due unknown composition energetics cavities. The Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (SZ) effect, a measure integrated pressure along line sight, provides means measuring thermal contents cavities, discriminate between...

We present results from a 100 ks XMM-Newton observation of galaxy cluster XLSSC 122, the first massive discovered through its X-ray emission at $z\approx2$. The data provide precise constraints on bulk thermodynamic properties such distant cluster, as well an spectroscopic confirmation redshift. measure average temperature $kT=5.0\pm0.7$ keV; metallicity with respect to solar $Z/Z_{\odot}=0.33^{+0.19}_{-0.17}$, consistent lower-redshift clusters; and redshift $z=1.99^{+0.07}_{-0.06}$,...
