Primary graft failure (PGF) is a common and devastating complication, despite the advances in perioperative treatment. We aim to evaluate prevalence of PGF its impact on survival explore associated risk factors. From November 2003 through December 2015, 290 patients submitted cardiac transplantation were classified into non-PGF (243; 84%) (47; 16%) groups. The characteristics recipients similar regarding age (54.6 ± 10.6 vs 54.0 9.4 years; P = 0.74), male gender (78.2% 72.3%; 0.38)...

Background Patients older than 65 years have traditionally not been considered candidates for heart transplantation. However, recent studies shown similar survival. We evaluated immediate and medium-term results in patients compared with younger patients. Methods From November 2003 to December 2013, 258 underwent Children other organ transplantations were excluded from this study. Recipients divided into two groups: 45 (18%) aged (Group A) 203 (81%) B). Results differed...

Outside the context of overdose and serotonin syndrome, seizures myoclonic movements attributed to selective reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are rare poorly documented. We present a 77-year-old man, with no history epilepsy, presenting in emergency department whole body jerks since that morning. Two days earlier, due prescription mistake, he was started on paroxetine 20 mg instead his usual fluoxetine mg. The patient’s electroencephalogram (EEG), performed department, revealed bilateral...

ABSTRACT We report a patient with frontal lobe epilepsy due to right astrocytoma (WHO Grade III) in whom two ictal SPECTs (single photon emission tomography) were performed during seizures different semiology and EEG seizure patterns. Subtraction of interictal SPECT showed lateral hyperperfusion left face clonic seizure, mesial fronto‐polar subclinical seizure. This demonstrates that may reflect from the same individual simultaneous is indispensable for correct interpretation epilepsy.

Objective To describe our series of patients submitted to surgical treatment for epilepsy due mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS). To identify if the presence or type aura was a predictor prognosis in these patients. Background In medical refractory associated MTS, surgery is superior alone. Auras constitute cardinal feature lobe epilepsy, having significant localizing and lateralizing value. A recent study concluded that abdominal good prognostic indicator seizure-freedom after with MTS...

ABSTRACT Self‐stimulation is a normal part of development and common behaviour in children before puberty, but very rare adults. The stereotyped semiology can sometimes raise the suspicion epilepsy. We present 30‐year‐old patient who came to our epilepsy monitoring unit for differential diagnosis nocturnal episodes, interpreted elsewhere as hypermotor status epilepticus associated with known focal septo‐optic dysplasia. recorded events during video‐EEG were consistent psychogenic...
