The transesterification reactions of castor oil with ethanol and methanol as agents were studied in the presence several classical catalytic systems. effects nature alcohol catalyst on yields monoalkyl fatty acid esters evaluated. results indicate that biodiesel can be obtained by using either or agent. Similar may following ethanolysis methanolysis; however, reaction times required to attain them are very different, methanolysis being much more rapid.

Because of their high viscosity and density, crude fats oils extracted from animal or vegetable sources (containing mainly triglycerides) cannot be directly combusted in modern diesel engines; therefore, they must converted into biofuels. This important transformation is currently a technological bottleneck for the generation biofuels either by thermocatalytic cracking to produce diesel-like hydrocarbons alcoholysis yield mono-alcohol fatty acid esters (biodiesel). The yields selectivities these reactions were evaluated. results revealed that there no appreciable substrate preference when the vegetable oils transesterified in admixture. However, higher reaction increased efficiencies purification process directly correlated with proportion oil present mixture.
