Abstract In order to advance material development for future nuclear systems, an insight into the cracking conditions of T91 ferritic-martensitic steel in heavy liquid metals (HLM) is provided. The paper critically reviews previous experimental data and summarizes them with new results. testing was performed contact slow flow static HLM study crack initiation, especially PbBi eutectic at 300°–350°C Pb 400°C about 1 × 10 −6 wt.% oxygen. Pre-stressed coupons were exposed up 2000 h. Constant...
In this work, the conditions for occurrence of Liquid Metal Embrittlement (LME) in ferritic-martensitic steel T91 contact with lead, Pb, were examined. Slow tensile tests notched specimens revealed that a temperature range close to melting point is sensitive LME (350–400 °C) and Solid Induced (SMIE) (300 °C). The cracking was stimulated by wetting (using chemical flux) notch effect. It found multi axial stresses state high level plastic strain front key factors triggering crack initiation.
Flow channel inserts (FCI) are functional components designed to minimize the magnetohydrodynamic pressure drop and also serve as a thermal tritium permeation barrier. In simplified design of FCI component, ceramic is directly exposed contact with Pb-16Li at elevated temperature. As must withstand mechanical stresses resulting from gradient during demanding operation, assessment response in essential. Pristine Al2O3 SiSiC were subjected three-point bending room temperature 650 °C argon....

Dual Coolant Lithium Lead (DCLL) Breeding Blanket, which is using the eutectic lead-lithium alloy (Pb-16Li) as tritium breeder, neutron moderator and coolant, being developed in frame of EUROfusion project. Flow channel inserts (FCI) are insulating components embedded along Pb-16Li channels inside DCLL breeding blanket modules to minimize magnetohydrodynamic pressure drop heat losses. There an effort modify originally designed steel-ceramic-steel layered structure FCI by eliminating steel...
Zirconium based alloys are commonly used as material for fuel claddings in the light water reactors. Claddings act first metallic barriers against loss of fission products during nuclear power plant operation, intermittent storage or final dry storage. The integrity is always critical issue reactor operation and spent fuel. In this work, ring compression testing method developed was applied to study hydrogen embrittlement, evaluate stress-strain behaviour hoop fracture properties E110...
The austenitic steel 15-15Ti is being considered as one of the candidate materials for internal structural components future heavy liquid metal (HLM) nuclear systems. This work studies compatibility with PbBi. Constant extension rate tensile (CERT) tests tapered specimens were used to study sensitivity embrittlement (LME) and crack initiation. taper creates a variation stress along gauge length which allows identification strain appearance. Testing was performed in air PbBi 10−6 10−12 wt %...
The environmental performance of structural materials (e.g., corrosion and assisted cracking) is one the critical issues being addressed in development Generation IV fast reactors. This work aims to support study ferritic-martensitic steel T91 liquid lead, under close operation conditions, order assess its suitability for an application lead was tested air at 400 °C using static slow loading regimes. Applied stresses were chosen be slightly above yield strength evaluate threshold stress...
This study builds on experiments with different combinations of tension and torsion pre-stresses which were published in [1]. The results particularized by new tests for combined normal shear components. ratio between was 3:2 agreement the coefficient k c . same material structural low carbon ČSN 41 1523.1 steel after normalization annealing used specimens. compiled displayed a three-dimensional Haigh diagram normalized coordinates interlaid corresponding terminal lines.
Abstract The work is aimed on the NiCr-Cold spray coating applied GOST 08CH18N10T steel and 22K steel. Cold shows a high cohesion even as few millimeter thick layer, therefore it has potential for repairs not only of energy industry components. Applied substrate, cold can be considered bimetallic material purpose mechanical properties evaluation. Performed comparison based tensile at room temperature 350 °C separate steels versus combination discussed. main goal to find optimal approach...
