Circularly polarized (CP) light is of interest in areas such as quantum optical computing, spintronics, biomedicine, and high efficiency displays. Direct emission CP from organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) has been a focus research it the immediate application increasing simplifying device architecture OLED based High dissymmetry (gEL) factor values have reported for devices employing fluorescent polymers, but these CP-OLEDs are limited their ultimate efficiencies by type emissive...
By simply doping the conventional light-emitting polymer F8BT with a helically chiral aromatic molecule, it is shown that substantial levels of CP-electroluminescence can be generated directly. Both photoluminescent and electroluminescent emission from are observed to become circularly polarized, sign CP directly determined by handedness dopant.
Abstract SIRT proteins play an important role in the survival and drug resistance of tumor cells, especially during chemotherapy. In this study, we investigated potency, specificity, cellular targets three inhibitors, Sirtinol, Salermide, EX527. Cell proliferative cell cycle analyses showed that Sirtinol but not EX527, were effective inducing death at concentrations 50 μmol/L or over MCF-7 cells. Instead, EX527 caused arrest G1 comparable concentrations. vitro assays using a p53 peptide...
Arylazopyrazoles, a novel class of five-membered azo photoswitches, offer quantitative photoswitching and high thermal stability the Z isomer (half-lives 10 ∼1000 days). The conformation isomers these compounds, also arylazopyrroles, is highly dependent on substitution pattern heteroarene, allowing twisted or planar geometry, which in turn has significant impact electronic spectral properties compounds.
Photoswitchable compounds, which can be reversibly switched between two isomers by light, continue to attract significant attention for a wide array of applications. Azoheteroarenes represent relatively new but understudied type photoswitch, where one the aryl rings from conventional azobenzene class has been replaced with five-membered heteroaromatic ring. Initial studies have suggested azoheteroarenes—the arylazopyrazoles in particular—to excellent photoswitching properties (quantitative...
Solutions of the Lewis acid B(C6F5)3 in 1,4-dioxane are found to effectively catalyze hydrogenation a variety ketones and aldehydes. These reactions, first allow entirely metal-free catalytic carbonyl groups under relatively mild reaction conditions, proceed via "frustrated pair" mechanism which solvent, weak Brønsted base yet moderately strong donor, plays pivotal role.
The emission of circularly polarized light is central to many applications, including data storage, optical quantum computation, biosensing, environmental monitoring, and display technologies. An emerging method induce (chiral) (CP) electroluminescence from the active layer polymer light-emitting diodes (polymer OLEDs; PLEDs) involves blending achiral polymers with chiral small-molecule additives, where handedness/sign CP controlled by absolute stereochemistry small molecule. Through...
Arylazopyrazole derivatives based on four core structures (4pzMe, 3pzH, 4pzH, and 4pzH-F2) functionalized with a dodecanoate group were demonstrated to store thermal energy in their metastable Z isomer liquid phase release the by optically triggered crystallization at -30 °C for first time. Three heat storage-release schemes discovered involving different activation methods (optical, thermal, or combined) generating liquid-state isomers capable of storing energy. Visible light irradiation...
Strongly dissymmetric circularly polarised (CP) luminescence from small organic molecules could transform a range of technologies, such as display devices. However, highly emission is usually not possible with molecules, which typically give factors photoluminescence (gPL ) less than 10-2 . Here we describe an almost 103 -fold chiroptical amplification π-extended superhelicene when embedded in achiral conjugated polymer matrix. This combination increases the |gPL | approximately 3×10-4...
Circularly polarized light (CPL) has considerable technological potential, from quantum computing to bioimaging. To maximize the opportunity, high performance photodetectors that can directly distinguish left-handed and right-handed circularly are needed. Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites containing chiral organic ligands an emerging candidate for active material in CPL photodetecting devices, but current studies suggest there be a trade-off between ability differentially absorb...
Photoisomerization of azobenzenes from their stable E isomer to the metastable Z state is basis numerous applications these molecules. However, this reaction typically requires ultraviolet light, which limits applicability. In study, we introduce disequilibration by sensitization under confinement (DESC), a supramolecular approach induce E-to-Z isomerization using light desired color, including red. DESC relies on combination macrocyclic host and photosensitizer, act together selectively...
Chiral molecules exist as pairs of nonsuperimposable mirror images; a fundamental symmetry property vastly underexplored in organic electronic devices. Here, we show that field-effect transistors (OFETs) made from the helically chiral molecule 1-aza[6]helicene can display up to an 80-fold difference hole mobility, together with differences thin-film photophysics and morphology, solely depending on whether single handedness or 1:1 mixture left- right-handed is employed under analogous...
Abstract Normal progression through the cell cycle requires sequential action of cyclin-dependent kinases CDK1, CDK2, CDK4, and CDK6. Direct or indirect deregulation CDK activity is a feature almost all cancers has led to development inhibitors as anticancer agents. The CDK-activating kinase (CAK) plays critical role in regulating by mediating activating phosphorylation As such, CDK7, which also regulates transcription part TFIIH basal factor, an attractive target for drugs. Computer...
Epigenetic factors such as histone methylation control the developmental progression of malaria parasites during complex life cycle in human host. We investigated Plasmodium falciparum lysine methyltransferases a potential target class for development novel antimalarials. synthesized compound library based upon known specific inhibitor (BIX-01294) G9a methyltransferase. Two compounds, BIX-01294 and its derivative TM2-115, inhibited P. 3D7 culture with IC 50 values ∼100 nM, at least 22-fold...
Recent reports indicate that some cancer types are especially sensitive to transcription inhibition, suggesting targeting the transcriptional machinery provides new approaches treatment. Cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)7 is necessary for transcription, and acts by phosphorylating C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II (PolII) enable initiation. CDK7 additionally regulates activities a number factors, including estrogen receptor (ER)-α. Here we describe new, orally bioavailable inhibitor,...
Despite rapid advances in the field of metal-free, "frustrated Lewis pair" (FLP)-catalyzed hydrogenation, need for strictly anhydrous reaction conditions has hampered wide-scale uptake this methodology. Herein, we report that, despite generally perceived moisture sensitivity FLPs, 1,4-dioxane solutions B(C6F5)3 actually show appreciable tolerance and can catalyze hydrogenation a range weakly basic substrates without rigorously inert conditions. In particular, reactions be performed directly...
