Abstract Polymer blends can be compatibilized using block and graft copolymers with blocks identical to, miscible with, or adhering to related components of the blend. The relatively simple models published in our preceding papers following up on work Leibler its modification by Retsos, based comments Noolandi, have now been extended. Our analysis mean field formula for a decrease interfacial tension Noolandi Hong resulted further modification. This provides higher amount copolymer region...
A modified theory of coalescence induced by extensional flow in polymer blends with Newtonian droplets viscoelastic matrix has been derived. Results this are compared results the shear coalescence.Elasticity leads to a decrease probability.
Abstract The theory of flow‐induced coalescence, based on the switch between rates approach spherical and flattened droplets, is generalized to systems with different droplet radii. Probability, P c , that collision will be followed by their fusion calculated for containing droplets two radii as a function average radius. Analysis results obtained shows gradually decreasing radius, 〈 R 〉 in broad range large width distribution. dependence polydisperse system should considered also if...
Nanotube surface treatment is crucial in preparation of high-quality nanomaterials for advanced applications. Herein, we provide an environmentally friendly and practical route to the design high performance composites using chemistry titanate nanotubes (TiNT) enhance interfacial nanotube–epoxy bonding. Insights presented here improve understanding how different organic layers (a low-molecular-weight bisphosphonate (APMBP), branched polyethylenimine (PEI), or polydopamine (PDA)) coated on...
The pendant drop method of surface tension measurements published in 1938 has been frequently used since late 1960s. time to reach equilibrium shape for viscous materials was mentioned few papers only. aim this paper is estimate needed a sufficiently close as function required precision and material viscosity. procedure based on Roe's error analysis the prerequisite similarity relaxation times that ellipsoid droplet by Luciani Utracki. An equation derived. Estimates have verified through...
Association constants of complexes a new class cyclodextrin alkyl derivatives - randomly susbstituted tert-butyl (TB-CDs) with complete set mono-halobenzoic acids and acridine were measured using capillary electrophoresis compared association natural cyclodextrins. In most cases the its corresponding derivative comparable. Strong dependence on actual concentration was observed for tert-butyl-α-cyclodextrin derivatives. Significant increase constant occurred below critical micelle derivative,...
ABSTRACT The paper is focused on calculation of the average droplet size in immiscible blends during their steady flow. Available theoretical and experimental results studies breakup coalescence are utilized to derive equations describing dynamic equilibrium between coalescence. New expression for efficiency, reliably reflecting recent results, proposed. equation size, controlled by stepwise mechanism droplets with not very different sizes, derived containing up 10–20 vol % droplets. For...
Abstract The compatibilization of polymer blends using a copolymer can be estimated, among other, simple theoretical models based on Leibler's mean field theory and its modification by Noolandi. case when chain is shorter than homopolymer chains described in the “dry brush” approximation for high concentration interfacial layer low layer. Since, there discontinuity between results provided them, effect several modifications dry brush has been studied. None tried shifts closer to concentration.
Abstract The effect of a small admixture high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) with high or low viscosity to polystyrene/polyamide (PS/PA) blends various compositions was studied. PS/PA composition near 50/50 form sheet‐like fiber‐like morphology at mixing that passes the cocontinuous structure during compression molding. Ternary PS/PA/HDPE ratio about show similar behavior. Generally, neither continuity nor shape PS and PA phases changed qualitatively by addition amount HDPE. In agreement...
