The possibilities of preparing advanced powders for thermal spraying functional coatings by the method self-propagating high-temperature synthesis are discussed in this review. Besides important economical and ecological benefits, allows formation with improved or unique structure properties size ranges an external morphology suitable different spray processes. A number novel recent achievements presented.

Addition of nanosized intermetallic or metallic phases into corundum considerably raises mechanical behavior the material. In this work, nanocomposites α-Al2O3/intermetallic and α-Al2O3/metal systems were obtained by mechanochemical reduction α-Fe2O3 Al (and solid solution in Fe). The process hematite various amount metal-reducer was studied IR Mössbauer spectroscopies, X-ray synchrotron radiation diffraction technique.

The process of mechanochemical interaction SiO2 with Al was studied. mechanical activation the SiO2/Al mixture results in a decrease temperature chemical from 1100°C to about 600°C. mechanochemically prepared may serve as precursor for Si/Al2O3 composites formed by subsequent self- propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). For first time, SHS (reduction Al) followed in-situ time-resolved X-ray synchrotron diffraction.

Abstract This paper reports on the development of NiZn-ferrite powders and their deposition by air plasma high-velocity oxyfuel spraying. The microstructure phase composition coatings are analyzed influence process parameters coating is assessed for sprayed layers up to 500 μm thick. Particular attention paid degradation spinel crystal structure, formation iron oxide phases, elemental loss during results show that a degree ferrite decomposition occurs with zinc wüstite very dependent...

The nanosized silicon powder has been produced by reduction of silica with magnesium in an argon medium using both the mechanically activated self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and direct mechanochemical investigated X-ray phase analysis, Infrared spectroscopy, electron scanning microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy. optimal Mg:SiO2 ratio found to provide minimum content contaminant impurities silicide silicate synthesis. For first time, Si via implemented. Optimal component...

The object of research is the effect sintering under pressure (10 MPa–4.1 GPa) on formation structure and properties ZrB2, HfB2, composites their bases. It has been found that high consolidation results in an improvement mechanical characteristics. In particular, hardness fracture toughness materials sintered 4.1 GPa are higher than those obtained hot pressing conditions at 20–30 MPa spark-plasma 50 MPa.High-pressure HfB2 demonstrated HV(9.8 N)=21.3±0.8 GPa, HV(49 N)=19.3±1.3 HV(98...
