Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) is a new diagnostic entity that appeared with the Covid-19 pandemic, and only concerns pediatric age. Early diagnosis early immunomodulatory treatment lead most of time to complete resolution pathology. We present case MIS-C, whose main clinical feature was neck pain due inflammation retropharyngeal tissues. The use anakinra critical for healing.
Kawasaki disease (KD) still represents a challenge for differential diagnosis because it shares clinical features with other infectious diseases. Adenovirus infection has many symptoms that can be found among the diagnostic criteria of KD. However, two entities have some minor differences are useful to distinguish them. It is quite important, even positive PCR test adenovirus, not exclude possible KD avoid delay and severe complications.
Pediatric acute ataxia generally represents an infrequent occurrence of pediatric emergency department access, but the broad differential diagnosis concerning it requires, starting with anamnesis and objective examination, to mainly exclude life-threatening causes in child. For these reasons, post infectious cerebellar ataxia, a benign self-limiting form, which is underlying cause most cases must always be exclusion. The also requires correct approach that consider setting about use imaging...
Mastitis in neonatal age is an inflammatory process generally caused by infection of the mammary gland, often sustained a “Staphylococcus aureus”. Artificial support, often indispensable the most critical phases of course, requires careful evaluation clinical conditions at time hospitalization equally punctual monitoring blood chemistry variables during re-feeding. Prolonged reduced caloric intake malnutrition, especially its extreme forms, can cause damage to various organs systems refeeding syndrome must...
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has represented a therapeutic and welfare challenge. Fortunately, the infection is only rarely severe in children. Home care requires an organizational investment. A home programme was started to assess clinical conditions of neonates positive mothers who were not able go paediatric clinic. aim this project give medical psychological support their families until recovery, thus reducing hospitalization. After first assessment phone tele maintained.
Hyponatremia is a frequent finding in pediatric emergency department. Association of hyponatremia with hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis, context urinary tract infection and/or uropathy, may lead to suspicion secondary pseudohypoaldosteronism (S-PHA). We describe 8 month old child evaluated for weight loss, severe hyponatremia, mild acidosis. Further evaluation showed elevation renin aldosterone concentrations, hydroureteronephrosis, suggesting S-PHA diagnosis.
