Pseudomonas fluorescens strain Pf1, inhibitory to the growth of rice blast pathogen Pyricularia oryzae in vitro , was developed as a talc‐based powder formulation. When seeds were treated with this formulation, bacteria spread roots, stems and leaves plants protected against leaf infection by P. . applied foliar spray, survived on leaves. The formulation controlled under greenhouse conditions. In tests seed treatment spray four field trials it effectively disease increased grain yield.
Twenty one rice genotypes were selected and screened under artificially controlled conditions to identify the blast disease reaction. Sixteen which already reported have resistance genes reacted negatively disease. Four found be susceptible. Highly significant, lower mean reaction score PDI (potential incidence) % was recorded for Moroberekan, followed by Columbia 2 ARBN 142 (Asian biological network). All 21 along with 64 hybrids evaluated nine traits in a randomized block design over five...
Cassava ranks fifth among the starch producing crops of world, its annual bioethanol yield is higher than for any other crop. cultivar KU50, most widely grown non-food purposes susceptible to Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV). The objective this work was engineer resistance SLCMV by RNA interference (RNAi) in order increase biomass yield, an important aspect production. Here, we produced transgenic KU50 lines expressing dsRNA homologous region between AV2 and AV1 DNA A SLCMV. High...
Abstract Oxalic acid (1 mM) when applied as a foliar spray to rice plants induced resistance challenge infection with Rhizoctonia solani, the sheath blight pathogen. Maximum reduction in incidence was observed were sprayed oxalic three days before inoculation fungus. The biochemical alterations treated also investigated. When acid, two-fold increase phenolic content leaf sheaths recorded after treatment. Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and peroxidase activities increased significantly starting...
Abstract Seventy-eight mungbean genotypes were grown in the field and 28 found to be resistant Mungbean yellow mosaic virus, while remainder susceptible. All further subjected agroinoculation confirm their resistance/susceptibility against MYMV using two different strains, namely VA 221 239. The results showed that only three genotypes, ML 1108, KMG 189 SP 84, exhibited resistance strain 77 susceptible Only one genotype, 818, 239, but it was 221. accumulation of viral genome host confirmed...
The coat protein (CP) gene of Tobacco streak virus (TSV) from sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) was amplified, cloned and sequenced. A 421 bp fragment the TSV amplified a construct encoding hairpin RNA (hpRNA) TSV-CP sequence made in plasmid pHANNIBAL. contains sense antisense CP sequences flanking 742 spacer (Pdk intron) under control constitutive CaMV35S promoter. 3.6 kb Not I containing hpRNA cassette (TSV-CP) isolated pHANNIBAL sub-cloned into binary vector pART27. This chimeric then...
Mungbean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) is a disastrous pathogen of mungbean. It widespread in most southern India and no complete resistance has been identified among its commercial cultivars. Two isolates MYMV, representing diversity, were used to assess characterize the susceptibility reaction all three species Vigna . The seeds agroinoculated with presence viral DNA was confirmed after 12 d by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain (RT-PCR) analysis which plants monitored for expression...
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa), carrot (Daucus carota) and French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) are important staple food crops in India. Symptoms of leaf yellowing, chlorosis, little were recently observed these species at the Vegetable Research Center, GBPUA&T, Uttarakhand, Pantnagar, Plants Amaranthus sp. growing adjacent hedges also exhibited yellowing symptoms. Three samples each plant with symptoms collected, including healthy looking plants. Total DNA was extracted indexed a nested PCR assay...
Marker assisted selection was employed to pyramid three bacterial blight resistance genes Xa21, xa13 and xa5 into high yielding susceptible rice cultivars ADT43 ADT47. With the assistance of PCR markers, homozygous heterozygous genotypes were identified in F2 generation two crosses (ADT43 × IRBB60 ADT47 IRBB60) goodness fit tested. Eighty nine plants from F3 also screened for genes. The carrying different combinations identified. pyramided lines showed a wider spectrum higher level against...
Summary The presence of East African cassava mosaic virus in association with disease Madagascar has previously been reported. We now describe isolates from mosaic‐affected Madagascan epitope profiles typical , and an isolate a nucleotide sequence similar to that South . Thus, three distinct begomoviruses occur Madagascar.
A mapping population comprising 220 F2 individuals was developed by raising the selfed F1 seed of a single hybrid plant, White Ponni x Moroberekan. Two hundred and twenty two F3 families were phenotyped for blast resistance under artificial condition. Fifty random amplified polymorphic (RAPD) primers used to identify parental polymorphism. Twelve RAPD markers which showed clear polymorphism scored in population. Out 12 markers, 11 loci (91.97 %) fitted into expected segregation ratio 3:1...
Early duration rice culture CB 06535,aderivative of the cross ADT 43 / RR 272 -1745wasreleased as TNAU Rice CO 51 during year 2013 an alternate variety to with 105 -110 days additional desirable features like high yield, physiological efficiency and better adaptability. This semi dwarf stature has efficient tillering capacity, long droopy panicles highly acceptable plant characters is a good replacement for due its grain yield pest disease resistance. In overall performance, culture, 06 535...
