The authors report a series of 52 cases serious knee ligament injuries in volleyball players. most frequent mechanism injury was landing from jump the attack zone. Women were more affected than men. Injuries during games training. Volleyball must then be considered among high-risk sports according to frequency and gravity our surgical findings. Results are similar those obtained athletes other who underwent same procedure.
Background: Young patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) are at a particularly high risk of graft ruptures compared with adults. Recent studies have demonstrated significant reductions in ACL rupture rates high-risk adult populations when lateral extra-articular procedure is performed, but comparative pediatric and adolescent currently lacking the literature. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose this study was to compare clinical outcomes isolated ACLR versus...
Background: The pivot-shift test is considered a reliable examination to evaluate the results of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, as it strongly correlates with patient satisfaction, giving-way episodes, and activity level. addition lateral tenodesis (LT) current techniques intra-articular reconstruction hamstring graft could potentially improve knee laxity in cases severe rotational instability. Purpose: To biomechanically investigate effect intra- extra-articular ACL...
In a prospective study, 40 consecutive patients who underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with doubled semitendinosus and gracilis tendon autografts were examined pre- postoperatively by ultrasound to investigate the anatomy of donor site before after harvest tendons. The ultrasonography at 2 weeks 1, 2, 3, 6, 12, 18, 24 months postoperatively. A total 298 postoperative sonographic evaluations performed. was imaged in sagittal axial planes: structure margins evaluated views;...
We describe the histologic course of regenerated tissue simulating semitendinosus tendon in three patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with doubled and gracilis tendons. Specimens were retrieved during revision surgery for removal tibial hardware at 6, 24, 27 months, respectively. Resisted flexion physical examination all revealed a "string" on posteromedial aspect knee that was quite evident, suggesting presence tendon. At surgery, well-defined fibrous band identified...
Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee) is an overuse syndrome that frequently affects athletes. A retrospective study was done to analyze the results at a minimum of five years after performance surgical technique in competitive athletes. From 1985 1995, thirty-two patients (thirty-eight knees) affected by patellar were treated surgically failure nonoperative treatment. All knees operated on same surgeon using technique: longitudinal splitting tendon, excision any abnormal tissue identified,...
Background: The outcome of revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction has only rarely been reported. purpose this study was to evaluate the results surgery with use an autogenous doubled semitendinosus and gracilis graft in association extra-articular procedure. Methods: Between 1997 2003, thirty patients underwent a repeat previously reconstructed torn combined reconstruction. Primary had done patellar tendon twenty-six prosthetic four patients; average time from primary five years....
Background The biomechanical function of single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, in cadaveric studies, is successful limiting tibial translation response to an load but seems be insufficient control a combined rotator internal and valgus torque. Anatomical double-bundle reconstruction might produce better outcome. Hypothesis addition the posterolateral bundle anteromedial bundle, vivo computer-assisted able reduce rotation tibia at 30° knee flexion, compared with standard...
Single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction seems to be insufficient control a combined rotatory load of internal and valgus torque, whereas anatomical double-bundle might produce better biomechanical outcome, especially during loads. The addition the posterolateral bundle anteromedial bundle, in an vivo computer-assisted reconstruction, is able reduce rotation tibia at different degrees flexion.Controlled laboratory study.Ten consecutive procedures were performed male patients...
Interest in the role of lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) preventing rotatory instability and pivot-shift phenomenon after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) has been recently renewed. Nevertheless, there is still concern about overconstraint compartment knee risk subsequent osteoarthritis (OA).The purpose this retrospective study was to compare long-term subjective objective outcomes rate OA development between patients undergoing isolated ACLR (iACLR) with a hamstring...
