Abstract Objective . Clinical implementation of synthetic CT (sCT) from cone-beam (CBCT) for adaptive radiotherapy necessitates a high degree anatomical integrity, Hounsfield unit (HU) accuracy, and image quality. To achieve these goals, vision-transformer anatomically sensitive loss functions are described. Better quantification quality is achieved using the alignment-invariant Fréchet inception distance (FID), uncertainty estimation sCT risk prediction implemented in scalable plug-and-play...

Aim Chronic radiation injuries, although uncommon, are associated with poor quality of life in oncology patients. The present study assesses the efficacy and safety hyperbaric oxygen therapy management chronic radiation-induced tissue injuries. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed 276 consecutive patients treated for injuries at Hyperbaric Medicine Unit, Townsville, Queensland, between March 1995 2008. Of these patients, 189 (68%) had complete follow-up data were assessed. Results...

Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a natural immunomodulator, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, anti-tumour growth and anti-metastasis factor, which can enhance tumour response to PEDF but also conversely have pro-cancerous effects. Inflammation major cause of cancer, it has been proven that anti-inflammatory properties. PEDF’s functional activity be investigated through measuring metastatic metabolic biomarkers will discussed in this review.

Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) based auto-segmentation has demonstrated numerous benefits to clinical radiotherapy workflows. However, the rapidly changing regulatory, research, and market environment presents challenges around selecting evaluating most suitable solution. To support adoption of AI systems, Selection Criteria recommendations were developed enable a holistic evaluation vendors, considering not only raw performance but associated risks uniquely related deployment AI....

Abstract Radiotherapy is an essential component of cancer treatment, but healthy tissues can be exposed to out-of-field doses, potentially causing adverse effects and secondary cancers. This study investigates peripheral doses outside the electron beam applicator in Elekta Versa HD linear accelerator. Peripheral were measured using 6, 9, 12 MeV beams at their respective maximum dose depths while maintaining a 100 cm source-to-surface distance. Measurements employed EBT3 films within Plastic...

Abstract Over the past decade, our institution delivered conventional total body irradiation (TBI) using Elekta's Monaco treatment planning system (TPS) with an extended SSD field arrangement and 18 megavoltage (MV) energy lateral fields. In 2020, there was a transition to Eclipse™ Truebeam® linear accelerators 6 MV 10 energies. These changes meant that essential components of existing technique were unavailable for clinical use new approach required ensure continuation service. The aim...

Abstract Purpose Total skin electron therapy (TSET) is a complex radiotherapy technique, posing challenges in commissioning and quality assurance (QA), especially due to significant variability patient body shapes. Previous studies have correlated dose with factors such as obesity index, height, gender. However, current treatment planning systems cannot simulate TSET plans, necessitating heavy reliance on QA methods using standardized anthropomorphic phantoms in‐vivo dosimetry. Given the...

Introduction In 2020, the Australian Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) recommended new proton beam therapy (PBT) item numbers be added to Medicare Benefits Schedule. During MSAC 1638 application process, recognised uncertainties inherent in cost-utility modelling of PBT. To address these uncertainties, proposed establishment a national registry with intention gather evidence validate claim PBT’s superior toxicity outcomes and cost-effectiveness compared conventional photon radiation...
