The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is altering dynamics in academia, and people juggling remote work domestic demands – including childcare have felt impacts on their productivity. Female authors faced a decrease paper submission rates since the beginning of period. reasons for this decline women’s productivity need to be further investigated. Here, we analyzed influence gender, parenthood race academic during period based survey answered by 3,345 Brazilian academics from...
Context. The ESO public survey VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) surveyed inner Galactic bulge and adjacent southern disk from 2009–2015. Upon its conclusion, complementary VVV extended (VVVX) has expanded both temporal as well spatial coverage of original area, widening it 562 to 1700 sq. deg., providing additional epochs JHK s filters 2016–2023. Aims. With completion VVVX observations during first semester 2023, we present here observing strategy, a description data quality access,...
Abstract While the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is altering academia dynamics, those juggling remote work and domestic demands – including childcare - have already felt impacts on productivity. Female authors are facing a decrease in papers submission rates since beginning of period. The reasons for this decline women productivity need to be further investigated. Here we show influence gender, parenthood race academics during period, based survey answered by 3,345 Brazilian...
Abstract We present a catalog of Galactic star clusters, associations and candidates with 10978 entries. This multi-band was constructed over 20 years, starting visual inspections on the Digital Sky Survey incremented 2MASS, WISE , VVV, Spitzer Herschel surveys. Large small catalogs, as well papers individual objects have been systematically cross-identified. The provides equatorial coordinates, angular diameters, chronologically ordered designations, making it simple to assign discoveries...
Context. NGC 6357 is an active star-forming region located in the Sagittarius arm that displays several star clusters, which makes it a very interesting target to investigate formation and early cluster evolution.
Despite the increasing attention on causes generating observed gender gap in science and efforts resolving it, women are still underrepresented academia, especially STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fi elds (Shauman 2017).This scenario is also Brazil (Barros & Mourão 2020, Areas et al. 2020).Many factors can contribute to science, but maternity certainly playing an important role (Sallee 2016).Maternity leave, which ranges from four six months, often leads a decrease...
Usually, important parameters of young, low-mass star clusters are very difficult to obtain by means photometry, especially when differential reddening and/or binaries occur in large amounts. We present a semi-analytical approach that, applied the Hess diagram young cluster, is able retrieve values mass, age, star-formation spread, distance modulus, foreground and reddening, binary fraction. The global optimisation method known as adaptive simulated annealing (ASA) used minimise residuals...
The ESO public survey VISTA Variables in the V\'ia L\'actea (VVV) surveyed inner Galactic bulge and adjacent southern disk from $2009-2015$. Upon its conclusion, complementary VVV eXtended (VVVX) has expanded both temporal as well spatial coverage of original area, widening it $562$ to $1700$ sq. deg., providing additional epochs $JHK_{\rm s}$ filters $2016-2023$. With completion VVVX observations during first semester 2023, we present here observing strategy, a description data quality...
We present an approach that improves the search for reliable astrophysical parameters (e.g. age, mass, and distance) of differentially-reddened, pre-main sequence-rich star clusters. It involves simulating conditions related to early-cluster phases, in particular differential foreground reddenings, internal age spread. Given loose constraints imposed by these factors, derivation based only on photometry may be uncertain, especially poorly-populated consider a wide range cluster {\em (i)}...
Abstract The giant H ii region W 31 hosts the populous star cluster 31-CL and others projected on or in surroundings. most intriguing object is stellar SGR 1806-20, which appears to be related a Luminous Blue Variable (LBV)—a luminous supergiant star. We used deep VVV J- , H-, $K_S$ -band photometry combined with 2MASS data order address distance other physical structural properties of clusters 31-CL, BDS 113, 1806-20. Field-decontaminated was analyse colour–magnitude diagrams (CMDs) radial...
We studied the propagation of high energy charged particles (protons with between 10 18 and 21 eV) in extragalactic magnetic field a simple model, without loss, taking into account only diffusion under influence field.
