In many low mature organizations dynamic testing is often the only defect detection method applied. Thus, defects are detected rather late in development process. High rework and effort, typically under time pressure, lead to unpredictable delivery dates uncertain product quality. This paper presents several methods for early prevention that have been existence quite some time, although not all of them common practice. However, use these operationally scale a particular project or...

Verification and validation (V&V) is only marginally addressed in software process improvement models like CMM CMMI. A roadmap for the establishment of a sound verification development organizations badly needed. This paper presents basis roadmap; it describes framework V&V process, based on Testing Maturity Model (TMM), but with considerable enhancements. The model, tentatively named MB-V/sup 2/M/sup 2/ (Metrics Based Validation Model), has been initiated by consortium industrial companies,...

This paper explores the effects of virtual development on product quality, from viewpoint "conformance to specifications". Specifically, causes defect injection and non- or late-detection are explored. Because practical difficulties obtaining hard project-specific data, an approach was taken that relied upon accumulated expert knowledge. The knowledge based found be a alternative in-depth causal analysis per-project basis. Defect seem concentrated in requirements specification phases....

Software development evolved in barely half a century from an exotic and rather esoteric pioneering endeavor into cornerstone of modern society. Unprecedented methodological advances have been made over such short period time that it doesn't come as surprise one talks about the "software revolution". In fact, revolution" is evolution" took place perceived revolution. third evolution stage, mastering software-intensive product complexity. A dramatic growth size technical complexity software...

We present PrintTalk, a DSL to "program" 3D objects, called "gadgets". PrintTalk also features "topologies", which are predefined spacial arrangements of gadgets. Gadgets composed by executing gadget script (possibly consisting subscripts) that 'draws' the in scene. However, returns number constraint variables. These variables can be constrained inside and bound outside order constrain produced gadgets after facts. This is essence composition mechanism PrintTalk.

Today's manufacturing industry is confronted with an increasing demand for product variability that stems from customisation needs and the engineering process. Different customer demands mass-customisation of physical products require designing multiple variants products, additional requirements may be introduced when reaches subsequent stages (simulation, manufacturing, assembly...) in its
