Two new species of the Liolaemus donosobarrosi clade are described. tirantii sp. nov. and calliston differ from other members their by a combination coloration characters, morphometric molecular traits. is known three localities separated only few kilometers each type locality. Both inhabit region strongly impacted oil gas extraction but conservation status unknown.
A new species of the Liolaemus capillitas clade is described. galactostictos sp. nov. differs from other members its group by a combination morphological and molecular traits, in particular black dorsal coloration pattern not found any species. only known type locality. This rocky fields surrounded grasslands on top Velasco Mountains, ¨sky island environment¨, northwestern Argentina. As well as this seems to be strictly saxicolous, viviparous feeds insects.
Pomacea canaliculata is one of the most dangerous invasive species. Morphological and molecular analyses have revealed that a digenean species belonging to family Echinostomatidae parasitizes this snail at two sites in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, South America. Molecular results confirmed belongs genus closely related Patagifer. Analysis 28S rDNA showed sequences rediae metacercariae are identical, indicating apple acts as first second intermediate host. The cercariae may encyst...
The genus Homonota was described by Gray (1845) and currently includes 10 species: andicola , H. borellii darwinii fasciata rupicola taragui underwoodi uruguayensis williamsii & whitii one subspecies of ( macrocephala ). It is distributed from 15° latitude south in southern Brazil, through much Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay Argentina to 54° Patagonia across multiple different habitats. Several morphological taxonomic studies on a subset these species have been published, but no molecular...
Bivalves serve as the first intermediate hosts in life cycles of some digeneans, but little is known about their larval stages along southwestern Atlantic coast. These larvae may provide valuable insights into ecological role mollusks parasite and marine food webs. This study offers a morphological, histological, molecular (ITS2, 28S rDNA) description three digenean species parasitizing bivalve Jukesena foveolata Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. Sporocysts containing...
This study presents a detailed phylogeographical analysis of one the most conspicuous groups lizards in northwestern Patagonia, Liolaemus kriegi complex. region is geographically very complex as result Andean orogeny and subsequent volcanism coupled with long history glaciations climatic changes. For 247 individuals we sequenced mitochondrial gene (cytochrome b) for subset another [12S ribosomal RNA (12S)] two nuclear fragments [kinesin family member 24 (KIF24) BA3 (BA3)]. We obtained trees...
A new species of the Andean-Patagonian Liolaemus elongatus clade is described. crandalli sp. nov. differs from other members its by a combination coloration characters, scale counts and genetic traits. known only an isolated volcanic mountain in northwestern Patagonia above 1500 m.a.s.l. unconnected with habitat suitable for clade.
A new species of the Andean-Patagonian Liolaemus elongatus clade is described. burmeisteri sp. nov. differs from other members its in a character combination light brown general coloration, plain dorsal pattern, dark lateral areas, very bright orange-yellow coloration on femoral area and lower belly, morphological genetic traits. It distributed restricted sedimentary rocky outcrops found an intermountain valley. known only for type locality Curi Leuvu River Valley northwestern Patagonia...
In this study, we present a phylogeographic analysis of group lizards distributed in north-western Patagonia, the Liolaemus elongatus complex. We sequenced 581 individuals for one mitochondrial gene (cytochrome-b), and subset, another (12S rRNA) two nuclear genes: kinesin family member 24 (KIF24) anonymous locus LDAB1D. estimated trees, haploytpe networks, standard molecular diversity indices, genetic distances between lineages Bayesian skyline plots. Our results provide evidence recognition...
Homonota is a Neotropical genus of nocturnal lizards characterized by the following combination characters: absence femoral pores, infradigital lamellae not dilated, claws without sheath, inferior laterally denticulate, and presence ceratobranchial groove. Currently composed 10 species assembled in three groups: two groups with four species, fasciata group only species. Here, we analyzed genetic morphologic data samples from Paraguay; according to Maximum Likelihood Bayesian inference...
Estimating the effective geographical ranges of species is central to species-oriented conservation and man- agement. In this paper, we review distribution Liolaemus elongatus Koslowsky, 1896 with three new records for northern Chubut southern Rio Negro provinces, Argentina. Based on detailed locality pooled from multiple data sources, including obtained study, revise range L. sensu stricto provide maps comparing previously recognized that proposed herein. Our results show possesses a much...
We provide a well-supported phylogenetic hypothesis for all recognized lineages of the Liolaemus kriegi complex based on multilocus dataset. used 29 individuals from eight taxa included in this which we sequenced gene regions (two mitochondrial and six nuclear). implemented maximum likelihood Bayesian inference methods mitochondrial, nuclear, concatenated sequences employed BEAST to estimate species tree. The genes analyses trees recovered L. as monophyletic with high support, including...
A new record of the snake Clelia rustica is reported for province Neuquén in northwestern Patagonia, extending distribution by more than 200 km north from previous records; it was known before only southernmost regions province.
