High-resolution manometry (HRM) with pressure topography is used to subtype achalasia cardia, which has therapeutic implications. The aim of this study was compare the clinical characteristics, manometric variables and treatment outcomes among subtypes based on HRM findings. The patients who underwent at Asian Institute Gastroenterology, Hyderabad between January 2008 2009 were enrolled. categorized into 3 subtypes: type I - minimum esophageal pressurization, II compression III spasm....

Initial management of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is conservative. As a step-up approach, percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) with saline irrigation reported to be effective. Factors leading surgery are unclear. In this ongoing prospective study, 70 consecutive patients SAP were recruited. all initially received medical and later underwent PCD as per the indication.Of SAP, 14 managed medically, 29 alone, whereas 27 required after initial PCD. Sepsis reversal was achieved alone in 62.5%....

Single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE) is a novel method of balloon assisted which allows deep intubation intestine and has therapeutic potential. This prospective study was done in tertiary care center to evaluate the feasibility, complications, diagnostic yield SBE patients with suspected small bowel disorders. One hundred six (mean age 40.1 years, range 12-76 65 men) diseases underwent 131 procedures between February 2007 July 2008.Indications for included obscure gastrointestinal bleeding...

Histological examination of core tissue samples may have advantages over cytology in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided sampling. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility and efficiency a new 22G biopsy needle.Consecutive patients with pancreatic mass lesion or peri-intestinal lymphadenopathy sequentially underwent fine needle both newly developed (the FNB needle) standard aspiration (FNA) needle, randomized order. In 144 patients, mean age 48 years (± deviation [SD] 14; range 18 - 82), 145...

Background Disconnected pancreatic duct (DPD) after development of walled-off necrosis (WON) predisposes to recurrent (peri)pancreatic fluid collection (PFC). In this randomized controlled trial, we compared plastic stents with no stent removal a large-caliber metal (LCMS) on incidence PFCs in DPD. Methods Consecutive patients WON who underwent endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage LCMS between September 2017 and March 2020 were screened for eligibility. At (4 weeks drainage), DPD or...

Coeliac plexus block (CPB) is a management option for pain control in chronic pancreatitis. CPB conventionally performed by percutaneous technique with fluoroscopic guidance (PCFG). Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) increasingly used as it offers better visualization of the plexus. There are limited data comparing two modalities. To compare relief pancreatitis among patients undergoing either PCFG or EUS guided technique.Chronic abdominal requiring daily analgesics more than 4 weeks were included....

Background and Objective: Endoscopic transmural drainage is an effective, but technically demanding treatment modality for walled off pancreatic necrosis (WOPN). The factors that determine the outcome of endoscopic WOPN have been infrequently studied. We aim to retrospectively correlate morphological features on ultrasound (EUS) with drainage. Patients Methods: Over last 3 years, 43 patients (36 males; mean age 36.04 ± 10.06 years) symptomatic were treated by attempted correlation between...

Abstract Background Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage of walled-off necrosis (WON) using either plastic or metal stents is the mainstay WON management. Our single-center randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate efficacy biflanged (BFMSs) and for drainage. Methods Patients with symptomatic amenable EUS-guided were receive BFMSs stents. The primary outcome was reintervention-free clinical success at 4 weeks. Secondary outcomes were: overall (complete resolution symptoms...
